In Kuala Lumpur, the most convenient and quickest way of going around the city attraction is by using a Hop-On Hop-Off Tour Bus. It is very affordable at RM38 per person and you can use the coupon the whole day. Yes, you need a full day to finish or at least visit the more than forty city tourist spots.
The bus is a double decker with an English tour guide. Guides also do commentaries in some major languages. You may purchase tour tickets from the bus, travel agents, and hotels or buy in advance using a toll free telephone or email which I provided below. It covers more than 100 major hotels so check with your hotel reception on the nearest KL Hop-On Hop-Off bus stop.
I purchased my ticket from the Malaysia Tourism Centre. See the pictures I posted with this tip. It is a walking distance from Corus Hotel where I was staying.

I can see buses plying around the city of Kuala Lumpur but I cannot recommend to use because they are a bit uncomfortable based on my observation. If you are a tourist, use a taxi or a tour bus for fixed and affordable rates and for a convenient journey.
For airport coach bus coming from KLIA to KL Central, express bus runs every half an hour starting at 5:00AM with RM10 for a one-way trip.

We took the bus from Singapore to KL. First thing is that fare is more expensive in Singapore , a great racket in my opinion. If you buy the ticket in Reverse it's denominated in ringits and much cheaper! The bus itself was ok, seemed a lot more roomy in the pictures but these things always are. The seats are at least large and comfortable. Our trip was delayed though by over an hour. Instead of leaving at 12 , we left at nearly 2, so meaning we got to KL late at 7pm instead of 5pm. The border crossing was not so bad though a little bit of hassle, it was quick and you had to drag your own bags but we more or less got through it in about 20 min. The road up itself in Penisular Malaysia is pleasant. Lots of forest, Palm plantations and greenery. They served us lunch which was much better than I thought it would taste! The biggest booboo though is that their in bus toilet was broken so literally the conductor would stop the whole bus if someone wanted to pee. We had a rest stop in a typical Malaysian highway reststop then on our way in about 10 minutes. We hit KL at 7 more or less on time as per their 5 hour sched. We got to watch 2 films although they never finished the 2nd one turning it off without saying anything. All in all a nice ride, except for the bad toilet and shock about the fare, recomendable ride. I'm sure the other high end bus companies are also ok.

Took 7.30am Sri Maju coach from Golden Mile Complex (Singapore) to Puduraya (Kuala Lumpur) through Tuas. Paid S$27.00 with fuel tax (1 way). Was given a bottle of Mineral Water. Rest-stop at Yong Peng at 10.00am for about 30 minutes for toilet/meal break. Reached KL at after 1.30pm. The coach did not go into the bus terminal as it was heading to Genting. It stopped across the road from Puduraya bus station. Almost all the passengers were confused. We crossed 2 roads to go to the bus station to book our trip back to Singapore. The bus station was noisy & confusing. The various sales agents all start to crowd around & persuade you to book through their counter. We finally decided to book through Konsortium & paid M$63.00 for a 18 seater coach. Their pick up point from KL is at Pasar Rakyat. Was given a bottle of Mineral water, potato chips & a small packet of peanuts. Left KL at 10.30pm. There is only a toilet stop. Arrived at Golden Mile before 3.00am as there was hardly any traffic at the late hours.

A very popular thing to do seems to be to take an organised city tour by coach. Unless you have trouble walking, I really would not recommend this. The traffic in KL is very heavy, so if you choose a half day tour either the beginning or the end of your tour will be in very heavy traffic, which sometimes barely moves. Try to find an alternative to getting around. Use the monorail and then take a short walk to the various sights. This is a much better way of seeing the city and getting a feel for the sites and sounds of KL.

From Larkin, the main bus termial in Johor Bahru, it takes about 4.5hrs (including a half hr traffic jam in KL) to reach KL's Puduraya station via Konsortium bus. The bus stops only for one short break of 15min. Clean and comfortable ride, and costs us RM30 for a one way trip.
For the trip back, we took Transnational bus. Cost us RM24 for a one way trip (economical). Bus was ok, but old and worn out. The bus stopped for 2 breaks, one short (15min) and one long (40min). Still took us 4.5hrs to reach JB.
