If you're thinking of travelling around Bukit Bintang along Jalan Sultan Ismail (Hard Rock Cafe, Concorde Hotel, Sheraton Imperial Hotel, Jalan Doraisamy, Maju Junction Mall) towards Bangsar or KL Sentral (Central Station), then this is the best method - the Monorail. It's convenient and less hassle.

We stay in Crowne Plaza KL and jus outside is a monorail station, so this was the transportation that we mainly used to go to the shopping malls in Ampang area (by the way isn’t worth it), Chinatown, Downtown and all the masjid and markets, Bangsar, etc. We made connections to LTR or KCR or the Express Train to go to Putrajaya, The Mines or the airport and the other that I mentioned from the monorail .
Is colourful, not so big, goes in a moderate speed and the distance line is relatively short.

In this account, I shall write about my travelling experience using KL rail network.
This is my second trip to Kuala Lumpur and my first to the Park at Bukit Cahaya Seri Alam - finding my way around KL would be a small challenge for me.
I took the challenge to travel around KL using the Monorail and the Komuter. It was my first experience travelling in this mode of transport.
There is a monorail station near the Swiss Inn in ChinaTown where I stayed. The station is call Mahaderaja. I think there are only 2 carriage trains in the monorail system. The train comes arrives the station quite regularly, say every 5 minutes or so. As I ventured nearby, I was surprised to see Stadium Merdeka. I had been trying to find out where the stadium was. I did not know it was just next to the monorail station

The KL Monorail system has 11 stations from KL Sentral to Titiwangsa.
The travelling time along the 8.6km route from Titiwangsa to KL Sentral station is about 19 mins.
Here are the 11 stations:
KL Sentral
Tun Sambanthan
Maharajalela
Hang Tuah (Interchange for STAR)
Imbi
Bukit Bintang
Raja Chulan
Bukit Nanas (Interchange for PUTRA)
Medan Tuanku
Chow Kit
Titiwangsa (Interchange for STAR)
We often took the monorail from Bukit Bintang station to KL Sentral to change over to the Putra Line just across the street.

This is a easy way to get around in KL. The monorail is fast , well airconditioned and cheap and a good way to avoid the traffic jams down below. Its also a nice way of getting another view of the city as you nicely elevated over the road. The tracks runs from KL Sentral to Titiwangsa and making many stop in between.

The monorail was very easy to use. We stayed at the Melia hotel so it was right outside our door. You can pick up a rail map at most hotels. You purchase your ticket at the station (very cheap), and all the stops have good signage. The train runs from 6am to midnight.

This is considered the latest addition to the rail system within Kuala Lumpur city.
It worth a ride as it pass tru major tourist areas at a very reasonable fare.
Operates daily as early as 6am to 12 mid nite. Do take note of the time of the last train that departs from respective station or u might end up with alternative transport swhich may cost higher.
The frequency ranges from 4 to 10 minutes.

The Monorail is another latest light rail system which connects all the way from KL Sentral and covers places like Jalan Imbi (for Times Square), Bukit Bintang (acclaimed great shopping at Star Hill) and Bukit Nenas (connection to KL Tower). Prices are slightly higher than Putra LRT but offers a great experience of KL city view.

I am not too sure about this line - it was greatly maligned by the press as an obstentatious project and certainly went through birthing pains before it was launched in 2003. More modern and comfortable than the LRT, I find that the stations do not really offer much to visitors as they are located in weird and slightly skewed locations...which means that you still have to walk quite some distance to get to the place you want to go. Also, connecting the LRT from the Monorail isn't as easy as it looks on the charts, as it usually involves quite a bit of walking.
