Taxis: 1 hour 10 minutes from KL City to KL Airport
  • Tip Rating:
  • It takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes (one way) to get from KLIA into the City and the taxi fare is about MYR70 (circa 2007).

The journey is long and the route unexciting - mainly rocks and greens. Rather monotonous!
(I would prefer the KLIA Ekspres)

Note: There are many taxi touts hanging around the airport's Arrival Hall soliciting business. Rather shady but I had taken one with friends with no adverse effects - but with the price bargained down aggressively. Not for the faint-hearted. Stick to the cabs waiting in line or book a taxi via the taxi counter just before you exit the customs gates.

Taxis: Taxis are very cheap. But be...
  • Tip Rating:
  • Taxis are very cheap. But be careful, some Taxis will try to rip you off. For example, from my hotel to Chinatown should cost about 4RM by metered taxi. It only happened once, usually the driver won't turn on the meter but will do it for 10RM and that is OK but will try for more, or ask for $5US which is too much for any short trip. Just be sure you agree the price before you get in the taxi.

    Taxis: Getting around
Malaysian taxis are the chepest ones in the whole world (Correct me if I am wrong). IF you donīt get cheated. Always go by the meter (in night time it is not possible thought) and at the bottom of the meter You can see the distance travelled. Some draivers tend to some how fasten it. In this case chek the number of the driver - a plate somewhere in the taxi - and threten to call to the surveillance. (I never needed to call - usually got I free trip)

One mode of transportation that will bring you around KL. However, take those taxis that uses the taxi meter or you will be paying more than what you should be paying!

Taxi in KL are by the thousands.....well all of them are metered meaning the fare is already fixed by the distance and time taken....mind you when its stops at the traffic lights and in a jam the meter will still ticks..ticks...ticks...fares betwen midnight and 6 am would be added a 50% surcharge......Well some taxi drivers would charge a "fix"price....do do insist on the meters.......btw its a norm that u inform your destination before you board the taxis....the driver would give some excuses that he is unavailable to send you to your destination

Taxis can be found anywhere and can take you to any point in KL. The only disadvantage is, most of the time the drivers do not use the meters installed in their cars. They charge you for more than what you should really pay. Better yet, use the monorail.

Taxis: Better not take Taxi in KL
The taxi drivers in KL are quite dishonesty. The first time I went to Malaysia, and wish to go to some shopping mall, one taxi driver came to said: you can't go on foot, it's too far away...about 2 km, come with me, I'm taxi driver...Finally, I found that shopping is quite near, and took only 5 mins by walk!

If you really need a taxi, remember to ask the driver to use meter. Sometimes they ask for more money than actual amount, and when you ask why, they reply: BECAUSE YOU ARE FOREIGNER!

    Taxis: Taxi Drivers in KL
Well, we learnt some trickies by the taxi driver in KL. In day time, there are lots of drivers around the bigest bus station. Then they have already compromised that the prices of the destination within city. Such as go to the train station maybe RM15. Actually if we take the charge by meter , it may be RM 10. So we know that we will go further to take one taix in the road.

Taxis: KL cabs - a lottery
Cabs are cheap in KL, with fares starting at RM2 - that is, if you are not cheated. You can flag them down anywhere. At busy times (rush hour and in the rain), locals can get quite aggressive at catching a cab. Catching a cab in KL is a bit like buying a lottery ticket. Some drivers are honest, some are not. Some will try and fix a price at the start of the journey - say no and if he refuses to use the meter, get out.
