I found KL a city dificult to move in. It was very tyring walking because everything is very far away cause the avenues are very bigs. I founded the bus difucults, perhaps I should have take a better map, but ... as the avenues are so big, if you are in the wrong way, to cross a road its really a long way. So for me, the better way to move in KL is by taxi. They are cheap but, as you know, you should speak about the price before taking it. At last we took a taxi guide, Moham that took us to every where and showing us every thing very well. His phone number 017-390 2051. A good election.
taxis are quite cheap in Kuala Lumpur and they have air conditioning, which other means of transport dont! there will always be taxis outside main tourist spots are safe to travel on. sometimes the driver may charge you more if you say what county your from, so dont say anything and if the issue comes up change the subject or lie!
When I am in KL, I use a lad called F.K. Yap - if you call him in advance, he can meet you at the baggage claims at the airport ... or he can show you around etc. using his faithful Proton Wira. Call him in advance to book and MAKE SURE you agree on a rate first.
Sample Rate: RM 50 for airport transfer to downtown.
A taxi ride is relatively inexpensive as well, especially convenient if you are arriving and departing with excessive luggage.
When arriving at the train station or airport, don't go outside to find a driver. Instead, buy a taxi ticket at a fixed price when you arrive.
Taxis are very cheap. But be careful, some Taxis will try to rip you off. For example, from my hotel to Chinatown should cost about 4RM by metered taxi. It only happened once, usually the driver won't turn on the meter but will do it for 10RM and that is OK but will try for more, or ask for $5US which is too much for any short trip. Just be sure you agree the price before you get in the taxi.
If you are looking for a reliable, honest and low-priced taxi-driver in KL? I can recomend Mr. Kevin Low. For RM 25 per hour, he drove us around, gave tips and lots of explanations.
One mode of transportation that will bring you around KL. However, take those taxis that uses the taxi meter or you will be paying more than what you should be paying!
