Garbage Curse
  • Tip Rating:
  • Garbage Curse is a warning tip I found quite intesresting but malicious. I discovered this message in a location called Setapak in Kuala Lumpur. There was a low cost apartment with many shops in front main road, the message is placed slightLY off public's attention, therefore not many peoples saw it. I went there to have my Dim Sum breakfast and saw the entire scene so unbelievable that many inhabitants actually just bang their garbage there in irresponsible behavior. The owner of the house nearest to the garbage probably couldn't take it anymore to write this message and place it right there. It looked like blood written from far, the message translated to English is....PEOPLES THAT LEAVE GARBAGE HERE DIE THE WHOLE FAMILY !!!

    Indecency behaviors
  • Tip Rating:
  • Indecency !!! HOLDING HANDS IN PUBLIC !! There was a police case quite recently that a non-Muslim couple got fined by a religious Muslim policeman for holding hands in public at KLCC if I not mistaken. That was a big shock definitely, I don't know what next to the case but was quite heat at one time. This picture is taken from Bintang Walk, they are obviously holding each others' hand. Whenever I saw couple holding hands, it reminds me of that case.

    Screaming hot!!!!
  • Tip Rating:
  • I thought I add this under warning or danger.... LOL

.....and its available in almost all eateries in Malaysia!

Its a warning to those who do not enjoy hot and spicy food. Once tried you may be in danger of screaming out coz there are certain type of the same chillies that can be so hot and spicy.... How used am I to it, sometimes the tears still come out of my eyes...

But dont chicken out, no harm trying... : - P

At least asked the waiter to bring you some light soy sauce and lime to add to the cut chillies. Stir it nicely and have it with the bowl of soup you order. You may asked for more!!!!!!

NOTE: Locals call it as 'cili api' which can be directly translated to 'FIRE CHILLIES'

    Drugs: Don`t Do Drugs
  • Tip Rating:
  • I read this sign in some night clubs and stuff saying not to do drugs here in Malaysia as if you are caught with the drugs on you , you will face the death penalty. I guess if I saw these sign put up for the public to see in the night club then I guess its best just to abide by the law instead of seeing yourself get the death penalty.

Theft & Pickpocketing: Beware of snatch thieves!!
  • Tip Rating:
  • I'm sad to say that in a friendly country such as Malaysia, crimes do happen in the most vicious way. Many people, especially women and the elderly, have become victims of the notorious snatch thieves and ended up injured and for some even died. These crooks work in pairs on motorcycles, the pillion will snatch bags of unknowing victims off their shoulders or hands as they ride past them, causing injury as they fall and be dragged until the theives get hold of the bags. Be watchful as you walk by the roadsides and don't let your bags just hang over your shoulder. If possible, keep all valuables & cash in a pouch or in your pockets or wear a sling bag / backpack.

It works as reminders rather than warnings. But it worth taking your precious time to see what cannot be done in a public park or at any of the lake Gardens in Kuala Lumpur.

As for the pic, it was taken at Titiwangsa lake Garden Kuala Lumpur. Generally, you will find the same warnings at any lake gardens in Malaysia.

As its written in Malay language, please take a moment to learn this simple languange.

From top row, left to right:

ANDA DILARANG = YOU ARE FORBIDDEN FROM
    1. Memetik Bunga & Merosakkan Pokok = Plucking the flowers & destroying the trees
    2. Membuang Sampah Merata-rata = Littering
    3. Berkelakuan Sumbang = Obscene Activities (and YES, it includes kissing in public)
    4. Menconteng Kemudahan Awam = Graffiti
    5. Membawa Binatang Peliharaan = Pet walking
    6. Menjaja = Setting up stalls
    7. Memandu masuk kenderaan tanpa kebenaran = Driving into the park without permission
    8. Membina struktur = Constructing structures
    9. Memancing di tasik = Fishing at the lake

AUTHOR'S NOTE: The pic resolution has been reduced for purpose of uploading; thus you can barely read the written notice below each icons.

    Taxi Driver Scams: Rip Off
  • Tip Rating:
  • Thanks for the warning I read in Virtual Tourist, before going to Kuala Lumpur, I was able to be on guard against Taxi driver who refuse to use the meter. From the Petronas to my hotel, the taxi driver refused to use the meter so I just got out of the taxi. I got into another taxi, again, this driver refuse to use the meter and was trying to charge me a high fixed rate.

    Wrong Way?
  • Tip Rating:
  • Hello friends, if you want to enjoy Emporium, please don't go into the wrong way.

Let me explain to tourists. This sign shows the way to Emporium which is a trendy cafe or bistro kind of places but please take a look at where they put the signage.

    Camouflage protection
  • Tip Rating:
  • Camouflage protection is recommended when you travel to Kuala Lumpur as well as to other parts of Malaysia. If you are bored, read on.

This is my latest travel-safety techniques for men and women especially when you are in tropical rain forest countries. Okay, how it works? Look at the picture at left, can you see anything desirous? Yeah, that's the theory of camouflage originated from the chameleon and French Army. Make sure you wear them covering those important parts of your body before you travel so that you will be safe always because bad guys won't see you.

    Traffic & Roads: Traffic
  • Tip Rating:
  • Traffic can get pretty crazy. Add to that a cabbie who doesnt listen and well one might say we "needed" that forthcoming drink.

It can take up to 10 to 15 minutes to go down a single block on a Saturday night near the KLCC.
