 | Kuala Lumpur Warnings or Dangers | Tips 61 - 70 of 188 | | Be very careful with your credit cards. Actually I wouldnt even use them for paying for goods. Mys sister had a call today from her bank that her card had been used in Malaysia over the weekend for computer gear. (She has been home in Australia now for 5 weeks). The only place she used the card was at Kuala Lumpur airport duty free shop and in Phuket at the airport dutyfree and the hotel when checking out. So it had to happen in one of those 3 places. |
Cabs are extremely convenient but DO NOT take a cab alone unless you are obligated to. After nightfall it is probably a better bet to just stay where you are rather than to take a cab alone. BEWARE of motorcycles - there has been lots of cases of bag snatchers. They are very unruly and can cause accidents. Women - be careful! Plus a lot of the Malays hoot at women in tank tops/short, minis so you'll have to just take it when they whistle. You may call a cab for an extra ringgit - if you want cab numbers contact me. Seriously, I never got ripped off in vietnam... their meters always worked..... then in a modern place like KL.... ugh never agree on a price, never listen to them when they tell u their meters don't work, always be exact on ur destination --- Valuable lessons i learnt. After agreeing on a price from KLCC to swiss garden at 10RM..... the taxi driver on the way there asked for another 5RM complaining about the traffic and it would take him more than an hour and asked that we understand his situation!!!! in penang, i asked to go to penang hill, not being precise that i wanted to go to the penang hill rail station, the driver took us to the penang bontanic gardens to his waiting friend who offered to drive us up the hill for 80RM (!!!!!) telling us then that the trains don't work and refused to drive us back to georgetown. KL-ites loves their car...and they love to drive around in it to everywhere - even if the destination is just about 10 minutes walk away. This of course contributes to the traffic snarl everywhere. That and double parking. The cityhall must make a fortune from fines. Parking is problem at many popular spots like Bangsar. Leave a Comment |
The trafiic jams also occur in the city areas ! It always seems that Malaysian government is doing the best to prevent this from happening but still, there are trafiic jams ! Now the photos shows trafiic jams in city centre, taken near Puduraya Bus Station... Leave a Comment |
While riding in the KL Monorail, these things are not allowed ! Leave a Comment |
They can be found all over the city. In the picture you will see a Police beat base or a little police hut. When in troubles or if you'd like to get to know more about the Malaysian police, please feel free to drop by. FOR THE LOCALS: Take a look at which 'Pondok' Polis this is. *grin* *Pondok = Hut in Malay, so it's a little Police Hut ☺ Leave a Comment |
My very good advice. DO NOT DO DRUGS IN KL. Drugs are very easy to get here. If you go out at night, in some clubs some guys would offer you easily. My advice, do not do drugs here ! It's always that foreigners like to have things easily getting in their own countries, here in Malaysia. Girls, drugs....easy. True ? If you are caught while the drugs are already in your body system, then you will be prohibited to enter Malaysia. If you are caught while the drugs are still intact to your body, in your pockets, in your car, in your house etc (you get the idea), you will get the death penalty. No argument. You have been warned. The choice, as people like to say "Is Yours !". Leave a Comment |
Normally the complaint would be 'No Toilet Paper' & some toilets are just plain dirty & unkept. If you use the public toilet in KL. If you must 'go', do so in shopping complexes. You can also use the toilet is restaurants. Ask for permission. They'll let you use it without any charge whatsoever. Leave a Comment |
Not in everywhere in KL. So, you don't have to worry much. Be extra careful when you are in Puduraya Bus Station. This is the main bus station which you can find buses to various destinations throughout Peninsula Malaysia. Thefts & pick-pockets are rife in this area. Although the police kiosk is just near the entrance, the police is more than helpful to give you the directions as to where to purchase your bus tickets than actually helping you if you have lost belongings. Please keep your luggage & personal belongings intact to you. Leave a Comment |
