Fancy a walk? See that island in the distance? It is the island of Dhigurah. If you get bored on your one small island, walk to another one! White Sands resort has several islands you can walk to along the sand bars on the atoll. The one to the South does not have much to see. It is recommended to go North. Just before you reach the large island of Dhigurah you come to the small islands (but big names) of Medhufinolhu and Rashukolhuhuraa.
WHAT CAN YOU SEE?
Baby Sea Turtles, Large Grey Herons, a multitude of colourful fish and a lot of palm trees. You can also see local fishing boats and somewhere on the North of the island (very long walk) is a village. Local fishermen will greet you and continue on with catching dinner. There are also some incredible rock outcroppings jutting into the sea. This includes things that cut feet.
THE BAD PART
Locals are not familiar with environmentally friendly waste disposal here. It just gets thrown down on the ground or in the sea.
THINGS TO PACK
• Water
• Good shoes
• Camera (only if you can keep it dry)
• Snack food
Be patient, it is a long hard walk through shallow water. Enjoy.

GOING DOWN!!!!
Euro Divers operates full PADI courses and has a fantastic 1-day intro course for about $100. In the morning you get the training video and instruction on dry land (good idea). Next you take your training into about 5 ft of water and practice your new found skills. In the afternoon you get to dive one of the most picturesque coral reefs in the world. This is a full hour to explore and see: stingrays, barracudas, whale sharks, soft coral, sea turtles, manta rays and a huge host of other colourful fish. If you enjoy the first day, you can carry on and earn PADI certificates.
The gift shops in every resort sell disposable underwater cameras for $25, but they are only good for shots within 5-7 meters of the surface. After that, you don’t have enough light to capture all the great colour.
After your Holiday, Euro Divers will send you emails and keep in touch to let you know any upcomming deals and opportunites.

Want a cheap (relatively) and fun experience? Buy yourself a disposable underwater camera. Every resort sells them, or you can pick up one before you go. If you go scuba diving, only use them at about 10 meters are less, as there is not enough light to get great pictures. If you want too use them to take pictures just snorkelling around the resort beach, avoid lots of sand and seaweed as you will not get good shots. I found some rocks near an underwater tank one of the restaurants (VILU MATHI RESTAURANT) uses to hold live lobsters and had a clear view of colourful fish. Unfortunately I had already used the film up. Go for it, you already spent a lot of money to get here, might as well get some good underwater pictures!

Its a bird, no its a plane no its.... a Fruit Bat
From a distance they look and fly like large birds. They eat a kind of red fruit that will make humans ill. They are fairly docile and will let you get fairly close. At night you can hear them calling to each other.

The (not so) rare Western White Whale lives a sedentary existence most of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, mostly the Americas and Europe. It actively avoids the sun and physical activity whilst eating virtually continuously. Just prior to several rapid migrations to areas closer to the Equator, they will actually reduce food intake for 1-2 weeks.
Upon arrival in sun blessed areas like the Maldives, these shy retiring creatures burst into unusual physical activities, sometimes healthy eating and display plumage not revealed during their sustained periods of inactivity in colder areas.
Although they are not an endangered species and definitely over breed, it is illegal to harpoon them in the Maldives.
Often develop a painful red colour during their migration.
