If you have time to spend on Hulhule, you could easily take a quick trip over to Male, the capital island of the Maldives.
The Hulhule Airport Hotel operates a free dhoni service over to the capital which takes approximately 10 minutes. Departure times are available from the hotel.
The dhoni departs from opposite the domestic terminal at the airport and is free - theoretically, to hotel guests but no one checked to see if I was a guest of the hotel one either transfer.

You might be landing at Male International Airport but you'll actually find it on Hulhule Island. The capital island of Male is adjacent to this island - a 10 minute dhoni ride away.
