There is not much night activity in way of shows, intertainment etc and not being into books I brought a portable dvd player and some movies which helped while away some time either sitting on the porch or during flights to and from Male.

If, like me you are interested in astronomy, and you have only ever seen northern skies, then this is a good place to dip you toe in to the delights of the southern hemisphere.
Being so near to the equator means that the pole star almost sits on the northern horizon, giving you half a sky that you've never seen before.
Add to that the fact that the nearest city is 80km away in Male, and the nearest "large" city is in Sri Lanka - you've got a wonderful opportunity for observing very dark skies.
Even if you're not in to the night sky - you can't help but be impressed by the fabulous sunsets.
