THE GLORIOUS BEACH: SUNSET

by DAO

Not too much goes on in the resorts at night. You could settle for the fashion show, the Disco, or the nightly movie. And you could also forget all that and go for a romantic stroll along the beach and enjoys nature's beauty. You did not travel half way around the world to the garden paradise of the universe to see what is going on in the bar with people you don't know. Get out there and walk the turquoise sea turn to a crimson red and then fade to black as the greatest star show in the world is about to begin.Ok, take a few beers from the mini bar with you....

Fisherman's Bar

by faridah

Everyday the resort would have different night life activity for those that needs a night life in Maldives. They would post up a notice to tell you the day's and tomorrow's activity. Nightlife varies from karaoke,disco.. etc.. I dont know how the response is, cos my nightlife is sleeping after dinner. : )

By the beach: Crabs galore

by faridah

If you think it is romantic to walk down the beach at night, think again! Crabs in all sizes come out at night, so not good idea to walk by the beach at night. Your girlfriend/wife will be screaming her head and jumping up and down... but if that sounds fun to you, then head to to the beach after dinner

CRAB RACING

by trevndebs

Every Saturday night is crab-racing! You pay $5 for your crab and cross your fingers... 50 Hermit crabs are selected from around the island a number is drawn on their shells and they are placed, 10 at a time in a drawn circle on a board. They are released and the first to reach the outer circle is the winner of that heat. The 5 heat winners then race off in the Grand Final with the first 3 lucky owners winning a bottle of red/white and Fizzy wine. All the crabs are then released unharmed. Very casual dress.

Crab Racing at the Main Bar: Anyone have gambling habits?

by Conflictrealms

Once a week at the Mekuunu Bar, they hold the crab racing competition. The crabs are hermit crabs in shells. Each crab has a number on their back, and you pick out a number. When your crab is about to race, you put it in the centre circle with a glass over it, and then when it begins, you raise the glass. The first crab to get out of the outter circle wins. The prizes that were given out when I was there were just a load of energy drinks. I'm not sure if the prizes change but it seemed they just had a load of drinks given to them on promotion by Rhino Drinks.

Mekuunu Bar: Night Time Entertainment

by Conflictrealms

At night at Sun Island, well, from about 6:30 onwards, everybody seems to gather around the same area of the resort. This is mainly the restaurant, and then the main bar. It gets dark about 7pm on Sun Island. And after that, the only place where there is lively entertainment is the main bar. Everynight, a different sort of event is lined up. From Live bands, to Maldivian Night. All Inclusive stops at about 1am, so many people seem to go back to their rooms then. But keep in mind the bar is open 24 hours.

Thulhaagiri Island Resort: Magic show

by leigh767

The island regularly organises various night activities from night fishing to movies to magic shows. Whether you're young old, you ought to find the magic show quite funny and memorable. Do join in on all the interactive fun add a magical moment to your memories of the Maldives! Relax.... it's the Maldives! :-)

Kurumba Bar: Kurumba Bar

by feag

Night time is quiet on Kurumba, after eating the bar is the only place to go to, apart from a kareoke bar (which we ended up in one eve with my friend who works with monarch airlines who had a stop over!) however, other than that, the main bar has live music each evening, a staff show once a week, but it is relaxing and if you sit by the lit up waters edge you can feed the fish bread rolls given to you by the waiters and enjoy the show! Or sit by the bar itself and get entertained by the magician barmen - who have been practising their tricks just for you!! its good fun, but not lively by any standards - but this is a different type of holiday - dont expect a disco (even though there is a floor and some get up but the island was quiet when we visited)Cocktails are a must tho! especially the screaming lamboguni!! (spelt wrong!) As all the islands, dress code is relaxed and comfortable.

Not much!

by LisaMJ

Most Maldivian hotel islands are about rest & relaxtion. There are a few that are known to be a bit more lively, (Kuredu springs to mind) and if your travel agent is any good, they will tell which ones.Overall, I owuld not recommend this destination for someone looking for fun all day everyday. On our trip, we were usually the last guests in the bar, at around 11pm. This suited us fine, as we were just looking to spend quality time together and bit a but unsocialable anyway ;-) Bear in mind that they bar will stay open for you if you want it to.So, if you are a party animal, then the Maldives in general may not be for you. Try my Caribbean pages instead.

Beach: Evening themes

by mnath

There are quite a variety of things happening in the evening. There is a Maldivian evening with Maldivian BBQ food and then lots of drumming and singing for an hour or so with the entertainers dancing with guests. There is also a beach party once a week with the resident one legged heron showing up and lots of lights and a big fire. Sunset drinks on the beach is also once a week for the romantics to watch the sunset. Otherwise there is fishing twice a week and every evening you can go a see them feed the sharks at around 8.30pm Dress code is casual and most guests don't wear shoes at all.
