Maldivian Beaches & night life
During night time, many lovebirds like to visit Maale's beach for dating. You would find them sitting at cemented benches with their faces toward sea. You might say that its their concept of night life.

Maldives is a country with all 100 percent muslim population so there is no typical "night life" which one expects in West. However if you are staying at some tourist resort then they have got bars and discos where you can party all night. For people of Maldives, the normal concept of night life is to walk along roads near water frontiers at nights. Colorful fountains at Republic Square and lovely weather add more colors to Maldivian night life!!

There is very little nightlife on Bathala... the most exciting moment after nightfall is at 7 o'clock sharp on the north pier. A man from Bangladesh takes out all the daily fish leftover fo feed the sharks. There are normally five or six grey sharks and a white-fin shark that come regularly to the pier to be fed, as well as two large blotched fantail rays and hundreds of jackfish. Fun to say, but the quickest to get the food are the jackfish, while the mighty shark appear particularly clumsy and slow. dressed

While in the resort nightlife depends on the management (some resorts have discos - others absolutely nothing), on Male there's a luna park. Being the Maldives an Islamic country no alcohol is sold, and as far as I know no nightclub is to be found on the island. So what do people do for fun at night? They enjoy rides on the few merry-go-rounds. True, it doesn't sound much fun to me, but it sounds healthy at least. islamic dress code

There is almost no nightlife on Maldivian islands. You normally have one restaurant for dinner, a bar and sometimes disco or some events like crab racing or slide shows...But you can watch the sun go down while having a cocktail, watch the birds or bats flying or look at the stars - you won't see so many stars at home... very casual - normally barefoot...

There are no nightclubs to go to in the Maldives, however on Meeru Island there was an evening of crab-racing held on one of the three bar areas. You all sit down while the "entertainer" asks everyone to bid for a crab, (they start at around $5 - bargain!). There are about 6 crabs in each race. Once all the crabs have been bought for that race they let them go and the first crab out of the circle wins! Ours cost us $30 and we called it "Frannie Jeffers" as Frannie, at the time was star of Everton Football Club!Frannie came through for us and ran across that line like a nutter - horray! We won a crate of Madivian Beer but as we were all-inclusive anyway it seemed abit pointless - but never-the-less it did make us laugh and I also learned that crabs in fact walk sideways and not forwards!!!!!! No one wears shoes!
What Nightlife???Thats what most people say when they think of the Maldives but they couldnt be more wrong. OK well it isn't exactly Aiya Napa but you are guaranted to have a great night in the Haruge Bar. There is some type of entertainment every night (crab racing, pub quiz, disco, movie night etc etc) and it is FAB. There is no better feeling than dancing barefoot on the sand to your favourite song. The bar staff are what will make your night in the Haruge Bar, they are top class. You always find one that is just like a great friend. Rohan is a lovely person, he would talk to us all day in the bar if he could. Mendez, Asfah and De Silva are also great characters!BEWARE of Fathualla's killer cocktails, great tasting at the time, not so great the next day! Ladies & Gents - cover your chests when coming into a Maldivian Bar/Restaurant etc.

One evening after dinner we walked over to our bungalow and the sky was clear and lots of stars were shining bright. A disadvantage when you live in a city is that there are so much artificial light, it’s hard to really see how many stars there are. Well, we got a good look at the stars that evening. We walked over to the beach bar and got us some cold drinks and laid down on a couple of sun beds and looked up on the stars above us and let our eyes get used to the darkness. I still think it is so amazing to be able to be outside at 11 pm and just walk around in shorts and t-shirt and not freeze at all :-)

There generally is no night life in the Maldives. The bar is about it, but that was fine by us. If you are wanting wild parties then the Maldives is deffinately not for you!Whilst on the Atol Explorer we did have a BBQ on the beach of an uninhabited island one night which was excellent. There were also loads of tame rabbits running wild on this island! Rather bizar! The dress code on most of the islands is casual. You dont even have to wear shoes if you dont want!

At night the lights surrounding the deck of the Italian restaurant illuminate not just the air, but also the water of the shallow reef just below the deck. The light attracts the small fish, which attract the big fish. Juvenile reef sharks take advantage of the situation to hunt every evening. It is a thrill to watch the sharks zoom in on their prey. Don't worry about losing your appetite, though. The sharks rarely catch the fish they chase, and when they do, it is virtually always in the shadows outside the circle of light the lamps cast on the water. On the deck just about anything goes, other than 'au naturel.'
