Crab Racing. Hmm.

by Custodyspice

This just about sums up the pace of the Maldives. Which is fine by me. Stick a couple of beers on your favourite crab. My tip is, bigger, in this case, is not always better. Wait in anticipation as Number 2 scuttles in, earning you a cheap night on the tiles.

The Bar: Evenings in the Maldives

by MOSSETT

The nightlife in the Maldives is very low-key.We spent our evenings sitting outside under the stars sipping rum & coke. The evenings in the Maldives are extremely hot and we found it was still boiling at midnight !The waiters are very friendly and keep an eye on your glass so you are never thirsty.Apart from the occasional dance, there is very little to do.However we enjoyed sitting by the pool in the evening with the sound of the sea and the clear skies - it was very relaxing. If you are looking for loud clubs, forget the Maldives ! you can pretty much get away with anything !There were no specific dress codes.

main bar at kuredu: If you want it lively

by DOUGALSMUM

(THIS TIP IS FOR KUREDU)...if you like your evenings fairly lively the place to be is the main bar, ( the Babuna bar)entertainment is held every evening ranging from crab racing to talent night!!if you prefer it quieter it is nice to sit around the pool bar ( the pool looks lovely lit up at night), or quieter still is the sangu bar at the top end of the island (this bar is only part of your all inclusive package if you are staying in either a sangu water villa or jacuzzi villa), if you are staying in a beach villa or ordinary villa you can still drink here but at an extra charge. casual, no shoes required!!- but you do need a shirt.

What Nightlife?

by MattTB

Not that I'm complaining, but basically there is no or little nightlife in the Maldives! You may get karaoke at your resort and a live band on another night, but that's about it! Most people sleep quite early as the days can be busy if you dive/snorkel a lot. The karaoke is worth a look in just to see the videos they play for the music, kind of like a far east porn flick with out the porn!?! Casual, shorts, t shirt

Nagili Bar: Crab Racing

by Beestie

As with most resorts White Sands is relatively quiet when it comes to the nightlife. The Nagili Bar was "the place to be" on a Wednesday. CRAB RACING. Not to be missed. For those of you not familiar with this activity I'll try to explain. There are 2 circles drawn on the floor - one which the crabs are put into at the beginning the other being the outer circle the crab has to reach before its opponents. You are not allowed to stand in the shadow of your own crab or that of another opponent - the crab stops dead in its tracks.Never thought I'd see the day when I was happy to spend an evening watching crabs racing all over the floor - still we all do daft things on holiday don't we!My youngest son took part and was so excited when his crab won one of the races. He was rewarded with 8 cans of beer which neither myself or my husband drink! It wasn't a problem we were able to give it to the...

Maldivian Folk dancing

by dhod

Muslim culture or ugly women? The maldivian Folk dancing night is very entertaining. However, because local women are not allowed to work on the tourist Islands the men have to dress up as women! The music is very lively and colourful and along with the great Maldivian food it is a great night.

Main Bar: Nightlife

Nightlife here consists of live music, a magician some nights ,crab racing and Karaoke???in a seperate lounge. plain and casuall if you want, some folk like to dress up and others come in shorts etc, no set rules.

Nighttime tranquility

by dhod

If you are looking for a busy nightime schedule then don't go to the Maldives. Some of the larger Resort Islands have 'night clubs' and plenty of things to do, but the smaller Resorts are very relaxing and tranquil, on Baros they have live bands/singers a few nights a week who are very good, other than that you make your own entertainment or just sit and relax and let the waiters keep topping your glass up. Generally very relaxed, shorts and t-shirts if you wish, and you don't even have to wear shoes on the small sandy islands.

Come on, most of us are not...

by MrGQ

Come on, most of us are not flying zillion miles for the nightlife in the Maldives! We are there for the sea life! However for those few who can't resist the temptation to getting groovy on the dance floor, most resorts usually have live bands & discos and sometimes they have Theme night! So go boogy! :)

NIGHTLIFE IN THE MALDIVES?

by DOUGALSMUM

LETS BE HONEST, IF YOU HAVE ARRIVED IN THE MALDIVES AND YOU HAVE COME FOR THE NIGHTLIFE YOU ARE DEFINATELY IN THE WRONG PLACE! NIGHTLIFE IN THE MALDIVES MAINLY CONSISTS OF ENTERTAINMENT BASED IN THE HOTEL BAR CONSISTING OF TAPED OR BAND MUSIC, KAREOKE AND THE OCCASIONAL DISPLAY OF BODU-BERU (MALDAVIAN DANCING & MUSIC).BUT THEN AGAIN YOU HAVE COME TO THE MALDIVES FOR THE FANTASTIC BEACHES AND WATER LIFE-IF YOU WANT TO GO RAVING ALL NIGHT YOU GO TO BENIDORM!!!!
