Hot Pot cafe is located near Maale beach. It serves snacks, tea as well as local dishes. Many people like to sit near beach and enjoy delicious food of Hot Pot.

They have got decent menu with reasonable and delicious food. I tried "short eats" ( local snacks) with evening tea over there and they were very delicious.

As with most islands in the Maldives you are limited to how many restaurants there are on your island..On Meeru there was one main restaurant which served all international cuisine..could not fault the meals..we also ate at the Asian Wok..and the Dhoni bar (behind pool in photo)..both excellent
Atmosphere in the restaurants was laid back..hardly anyone really dressed up at night...
you kept the same waiter all week..breakfast and dinner were both spread over a period of 2 hours..you kept your own table all week so there was no one waiting for your seat..all restaurants and bars had thatched roofs and no glass in the windows!!!!

Plenty of fresh fish, plenty of starters and local dishes also several meat courses each night..theme nights (Italian and Maldivian) always a choice of 5 or 6 sweets..mmmmmmm..something for everyone..

most of the time, you'll have to eat at the resort you staying at.. those in kanuhura were delicious.. and we get great view to accompany the meals.. in town, you'll have more choices.. the one a short walk away from the international airport is pretty good..
it's quite cheap.. very local.. and yummy!

there's this food that i've only tasted in maldives.. it's this pancake like thingy with lots of tuna and onion in it.. very simple but delicious..

  • Our favorite restaurant was the 'Dhoni bar'! Here you can purchase a wide variety of snacks and drinks at reasonable prices. The waiter service here is excellent too. Our waiter was called 'Ibraham' and he was the nicest you could wish for.
As we stayed for 2 weeks, we got to know some of the waiters quite well. Ibraham and Malmoon were great fun. They even supported Manchester United, as did most of the Islanders. We left them our Man Utd shirt as a token of our appreciation.

Steak sandwich is a must, and the 'Fish Sambol' was delicious too.

Each hotel has a main restaurant and some other where u can get paying an extra charge.

Resorts always offer a wide selection of culinary choices, depending on the places - be it Thai, Mediterranean, Continental, Asian, Italian cuisine...

Depending on the islands, main restaurants can offer menu or buffet, you have to ask your travel agency.

During the day you can get light snacks and refreshments.

I recommend you to take half or full board, because in the maldives food is very expensive, due to the fact that they have to inport all.

Traditional meal in the Maldives consists of rice and garudhiya (fish soup), with fish, chilli, lemon and onion. Curries are also used instead of garudhiya. Fish paste known as rihaakuru is also a fine side dish. Alternately, roshi (chapati) and mas huni (made of grated coconut, fish, lemon and onions) are a popular dish. Fried yams are also widely eaten. Sweet dishes include custard, bodibaiy (rice mixed with sugar) and fruits such as bananas, mangoes and papayas.

Alcoholic beverages and pork are prohibited by Law and only found in tourist resorts and liveaboards for tourist consumption.

AS WITH MOST OF THE ISLANDS IN THE MALDIVES, THERE IS ONLY ONE RESTAURANT WHICH SERVES BREAKFAST LUNCH AND DINNER, BUT WITH EVERY COURSE THE RESTAURANT LOOKS DIFFERENT AS THEY MOVE THE TABLES AROUND AND CHANGE THE CLOTHS FOR DIFFERENT COLOURS ETC
YOU HAVE THE SAME WAITER WITH YOU DURING YOUR WHOLE STAY, WHICH IS REALLY HELPFUL AS YOUR FAVORITE DRINK OR BOTTLE OF WINE IS WAITING FOR YOU ON YOUR TABLE WHEN YOU ARRIVE, AND AS IT IS ALL INCLUSIVE YOU NEVER HAVE TO THINK ABOUT (AM I GETTING RIPPED OFF HERE)

HAS TO BE THE FISH DISHES, AS EVERYTHING YOU EAT HAS BEEN CAUGHT THAT MORNING. ALSO THEY HAVE A BIG LOBSTER TANK WHERE YOU CAN CHOOSE YOUR OWN LOBSTER

There is no favourite restaurant, Each island has got one ore at max. three restaurant. The food ist everywhere international in the maldives, so you cannot choose an island because of the restaurant. You would better chosse your island, because of the house reef, and of its size an resorts rooms.
you will eat in the middle pf the idian ocean, that's all
