If u wanna save money, u can purchase meal package, as follows:- Breakfast only- Half board (breakfast & dinner)- Full Board (3 meals a day)- All inclusive (full board + drinks)If u have meal at one of the restaurants, it cost u min. USD 10/meal, but full board cost only USD 10 for 3 meals. They always have buffet with international food.
The buffet meals on Veligandu were excellent without exception. Some lovely fresh fish and meat was always on the menu and fresh salads and vegetables always also on the menu.However as the food is so good it is easy to over indulge in the curries and fried foods and especially the deserts! Fresh tuna - beautiful!
The restaurant is on stilts over the ocean, with fantastic views. The food is great and a really good choice. And you can eat there when ever you like. The staff are always friendly no matter what time of day or night. The Cajun Chicken Sandwich and the BLT toasted sandwich!!
Food was tasty,varied choice, and plentifull, set in a large Maldivian style open plan area. You have your own personal waiter (covers a few tables only) Again its a relaxed atmosphere,no rushing about by yourself or staff. local fish dishes excellent, usuall chicken at all meals but there is a varied choice of dishes,and the sweets are a must.
No favorit. Important is the house-reef, not the restaurant, but on the most islands the restaurant are very fine. When staying on your resort Island there are usually a choice of the main restaurants, that serve a vast array of International food on a buffet basis. Or, if you choose you can eat in the A La Carte restaurants.If you stay on half or full board basis then meals are taken in the main restaurant or a supplement can be paid to dine elsewhere, which often makes a nice change- many Islands have a great selection of Thai, Indian, Chinese and Seafood restaurants.Wherever you dine we have found that the food is excellent, and there is always plenty of it. Maldivian is a nice mix of beautiful fresh salads, seafood and delicate curry dishes, very similar to Thai and Chinese.
There are a number of restaurants in Male that serve western style food as well as Asian dishes including Quench, Seagull, Nasandhura Palace Hotel, Park View, Intimate, Symphony, Slice, Kenducky, Island Foods, Rendezvous, Haruge and Twin Peaks. There are also Indian,Thai and Chinese restaurants and several Sri Lankan cafes. Restaurants are also found in the tourist resorts, but getting there is expensive. There are many ‘tea shops’ which do good local fish curries and rice, in addition to sweet and savoury 'short eats' (hedhikaa). Maldivian food is an interesting combination of Tuna prepared in different ways. 'Garudhiya' (boiled tuna soup), Rihaakuru (a concentrated fish paste), 'Kandu Kukulhu' ( tuna marinated in rich blend of spices & cooked as a curry. Our favorite restaurant was the 'Dhoni bar'! Here you can purchase a wide variety of snacks and drinks at reasonable prices. The waiter service here is excellent too. Our waiter was called 'Ibraham' and he was the nicest you could wish for.As we stayed for 2 weeks, we got to know some of the waiters quite well. Ibraham and Malmoon were great fun. They even supported Manchester United, as did most of the Islanders. We left them our Man Utd shirt as a token of our appreciation. Steak sandwich is a must, and the 'Fish Sambol' was delicious too.
It is hard to eat during daytime, because it is so hot. But the hotel will always keep you satisfied and you can have coffee and pie after lunch.Haven't been to the coffee time very often, because diving is more important than eating pie! ;))
IF STAYING ON KURAMATHI ISLAND YOU MUST EAT AT THE SIAM GARDENS (THAI RESTAURANT) AT VERY LEAST ONCE DURING YOUR STAY.IT IS A LOVELY DECORATED RESTAURANT, DISCREETLY TUCKED AWAY AMONGST THE FOLIAGE (IT TOOK ME THREE DAYS TO FIND IT-IT WAS SO WELL HIDDEN! THE AMBIENCE IS RELAXED/ROMANTIC AND THE SERVICE IS EXCELLENT.ON TOP OF ALL THAT THE PRICES ARE REASONABLE TOO!THERE IS AN EXTENSIVE MENU, AND ONCE A WEEK THERE IS AN ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT BUFFET. I ATE THERE SEVERAL TIMES DURING MY STAY-ALLWAYS ORDERING SOMETHING DIFFERENT ON THE MENU. I WAS NEVER DISAPOINTED BY ANY OF MY CHOICES. I LIKE MY FOOD VERY SPICY, BUT MY HUSBAND DOES NOT, BUT WE WERE BOTH HAPPY AS THE MENU IS MARKED TO SHOW MILD , MEDIUM AND HOT DISHES TO HELP YOU CHOOSE YOUR MEAL.
