Monastery ruin 2

by alusru

This pictures shows the three stones where the Lamas were sitting and praying. This place is surrounded from the different houses, but all walls are falling apart. In your imagination you might be able to get a feeling how everything once was.

Monastery ruin

by alusru

Our guide for this place was the father of the Nomads family we stayed during the first night. He, additional to have his animals, is working for the nature reserve he lives in. He showed us this old monastery ruins. The place still has a spiritual feeling. It's ingrained in an area with big rocks and you only see it when you walk up.

Spring to cure eyes

by alusru

Our guide for this place was the father of the Nomads family we stayed during the first night. He, additional to have his animals, is working for the nature reserve he lives in. He showed us this small spring, covered by a stone. The spoon is always nearby. This spring was found long ago by Lamas and they used it to cure their eyes with it's water.

Gouda factory in the steppe of Mongolia

by alusru

Our driver has known it and took a small detour to this place. The owner told us, that there had been more of these small cheese factories in this part of Mongolia. But he is the only one left now. When you come to the house you don't expect at all to find Gouda cheese there. Mongolian people usually don't make cheese as we know it in Europe. They do more something like curd and then dry it.

Medicinal herbs

by alusru

Our guide told us of more than 70 different medicinal herbs growing in that area. He knows them all. It's so dry here but nature succeeds, as always.

Rocks around monastery ruins

This shows you a part of the rocks hiding the monastery ruins. It's the edge of a high plateau and on top of these rock you can overlook the next valley.
