Beer is cheap by western standards, usually Korean(Cass, hite, etc) and varies in quality. By Mongolian standards beer is very expensive. Be sure to ask for "Huu-ten peeve" That means Cold beer, cause they just might serve it warm otherwise. Outside the city it will be warm. After about 12am-1am the night club will usually have a performance, such as a stripper in the dance floor or jugglers. Apparently this is very normal, to have 1-2 women run out all the sudden and do a strip show, then go back to dancing as usual.
Anything really, jeans and a t-shirt is fine If your too dressy up, you might invite too much contact Leave a Comment Theme: Nightclub

inside the warehouse by SirRichard As you enter/exit the country, the train has to change the width of the whhels distance to adapt to the different rails. They did this at night, taking each wagon inside a warehouse and lifting it for a while. Of course, they wake U up in the middle of the night, so looking at the “change of the guard” is a real nightlife activity, LOL Leave a Comment Theme: People Watching

by CliffClaven The Grand Khaan Irish pub opened in 2005 and attracts a mixed crowd of Mongolians and expats. A seat at the bar is a good place for people-watching. The place starts to fill up in the early evening as young Mongolians leave work and drop in for a drink. And it takes some time to fill up, since the Grand Khaan is big: more of a beerhall than a pub. Theme: Eating and Drinking

I had the great pleasure of watching the full moon rise with the red planet March nearly "touching" it over the hills surrounding the Tsarim Burt Steppe. The sun had just set so it wasn't completely dark. This was sooo nice. I got my camera out of the ger and ventured to take a photo of the scene. A flock of bleating sheep took an interest in this and surrounded me, so the lonely steppe scenery became clogged with unruly sheep. If you have the chance for a full moon rise on the steppe, don't miss the chance. With the right person, no sheep and people around, but an urga, this scene could easily qualify for a VT "adult spot" tip... Raaaather romantic... Now, let me see if I have photo. If not now, perhaps later. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

If you want a wild night out in Ulan Bator, hook up with a few local guys and gals. The manager of a club I went to, the Hollywood club, took me out on the town with a few of his mates. The night involved a few gallons of vodka, a few games of snooker, a visit to every dingy dive in town and an hour in the police cells. All in all good fun, but not for the faint-hearted! FIRE DISCO CLUB, is in Bayangol District on the main road of the third and fourth 'khoroolol'. It is opposite a food market. MONEYTRAIN DISCO CLUB, is on the corner of Durvun Zam (Junction) in a fairly central area. HARD ROCK DISCO CLUB Entrance Fees into the clubs are about 1000 Tugriks per person. Clubs are often changing ownership, going out of business or change in popularity. The best way to check the good places to go is to find the local watering hole of the foreign population who can help you. Alternatively if you want to ask a local then you could ask my homestay hosts. Let me know if you need their contact details for your trip.
Dress fairly nicely. Jeans are ok. Leave a Comment Theme: Dancing

At River Sounds you can hear live music played by one of Mongolia's well-known artists. Afterwards there is an excellent DJ who plays music from around the world. It is a very trendy place.
Most Mongolian's take a pride in their appearance and would tend to dress nicely to go to a nightclub. It would be a bit too casual to wear shorts I think but I don't know if they have a dress code as such. There is a neverending supply of restaurants, bars, discos, and clubs that have western names, themes, etc. You should have no problem finding what you want if you are a homesick. They are also lots of english speaking expats here too if you have a problem or are looking for some company.
Come as you are.... Leave a Comment Theme: Nightclub
