You've got to be kidding! No one goes to Mongolia for the food. Most of what I ate was boiled mutton (very old sheep.) No fruits or vegetables, no fish (the Mongolians think eating fish is a very strange habit.) All the famous Mongolian Bar-b-que is from Inner Mongolia, which is part of China. (Side note: The food in inner Mongolia is wonderful.) The fermented mare's milk and the vodka are a different story. The mare's milk tastes like slighly alcoholic fizzies, very refreshing, especially if the alternative is the 'tea', which is black tea, greasey butter and lots of salt. Travel hint: pack dried fruit and energy bars.
