We went for a 5 hour walk around the Dhulikhel area and even though the sun melted us, it was an amazing experience. Witness the locals planting the rice before the monsoon, say hello to various animals wandering along the road, visit local shrines in local villages, say hello to the local children and get mobbed if you have anything for them and try catching a local bus and if you're daring, try an ice cream!
This is a great way to experience the grass roots of an area by simply walking around it interacting with the people.
