Once you have traversed the pass from Kenja and descended down the side of the mountain you will reach the picturesque village of Junbesi. This will probably be your 4th or 5th night on the trek if you are coming from Jiri, so why not fit in a rest day before continuing to Namche Bazaar, as here you will find some of the best lodges on the trek, and delicious food too! I had my best Sherpa Stew here and delicious apple pies too. During the rest day you may visit Junbesi Monastery, built nearly 400 years ago and the oldest in the Everest region. The monastery has a collection of sacred books and a 6m high statue of Gautum Buddha. You can also take a trail out of the village and hike up the valley if you really feel like some exercise. When you depart Junbesi you will get your first sight of Everest when you rejoin the trail and follow the path up the hill.
