  • G's Terrace: Live Music in Thamel

by agschwarz Written May 13, 2005

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

If you're ever looking for something to do during the evening in Kathmandu come to G's Terrace, have a drink, and enjoy the live music. There's no cover to get in, the beer is cheap, and atmosphere is friendly. G's also has specials in the afternoon for cheap San Miguels if you like to get an early start on the drinking.

Dress Code: No dress code at all. Bring a jacket as the evenings in Kathmandu can be cool.

    Maya Pub: Love drinks????

by Saagar Written May 2, 2005

Night club isn't really the category, more like a late night pub and coctail bar with tables to languish at and cool music.
This is far from Nepal, however, and as such an escape or a step on your return home. Much more congenial than Tom & Jerry's and more reasonable music and with a good clientele of Nepalis, expats and groups and individual visitors this is a good hangout.
    Good caipirhinjas!

Dress Code: Don't worry about dress code, but you can dress up if you want to be seen.

Freak street bars: Is it Christmas already?

by Crift Written Dec 15, 2004

I can't stop banging my head on the wall trying to remember the name of this great, fantastic, wonderful liitle spot in Freak street. It was so small and cosy, the staff was really friendly and the music was.... well, nepalese pop.
It really felt like Xmas time in there, it could be the small light bulbs on the front window but I have a wish: I would LOVE to spend Xmas time there!

Dress Code: You gotta be f****n' kidding!

    Isn't it cute?

    New Orleans: Thamel's Finest Night-Spot

by chazgilbert Updated Jun 1, 2003

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

New Orleans is my all-time favourite Kathmandu night-spot. Fantastic setting, and an awesome atmosphere.

The bar has the best drinks menu anywhere in Nepal, loads of cocktails etc. The waiting staff are great, especially Guneraj - what a character!

Very relaxed, and very safe. There's always other easy-going tourists about who are always nice to talk to. he best aspect however, is the live music!

Fire Club: 5 years out of date, but fun!

by chazgilbert Written Jun 1, 2003

The Fire Club, in Kathmandu's tourist district, Thamel, was a pretty novel experience. A slightly seedy feel to it, but friendly, and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Cheap drinks adds to the cheap atmosphere, and not a lot can be said about the music, which was at leat 5 years out of date.

Dress Code: Very informal, not exactly a classy venue. Jeans and trainers are fine.
