A beautiful temple located at Indra Chowk and for me one of the most interesting temples in the city. The walls are decorated with red and white tiles, and has a beautiful balcony overlooking the square decorated with four golden animal statues (lions maybe) and some golden painted wooden carvings. The main entrance of the temple is guarded by two huge lions, the entrance is not allowed to non hinduist but it´s possible to see the silver statue of Akash Bhairab from the outside, the statue is only displayed on occasion of the Indra festival dedicated to God Indra or Rain God.
This is one of the most important Hindu temple of Kathmandu. This is about God Akash Bhairav or Shani ( Saturn) God as said in India. Hindus of all over Kathmandu come almost everyday to offer prayers. This is located at Indra Chowk on way to Thamel and very near Hanuman Dhoka palace.
We had the opportunity to meet the priest and his daughter, who allowed us to photograph the deity from close and we stood in front of the deity, the priest's daughter took the photograph. We are sincerely thankful to both of them.
