In the morning, taxis enter Nepalganj from india loaded with the day's Indian newspapers for distribution. On therir return to Lucknow these taxis will be very happy to have paying passengers. And you will get fast to Lucknow. Maybe 4-500 Rs - cannot do better by public transport!

Arriving at Nepalganj airport there will normally be a few taxis competing with the rickshaw wallahs. If you are going to stay in the nearby airport town, don't bother about a taxi. But if tired of the open air and you are heading to the border or central Nepalganj hotels with a bit of luggage, a taxi will be handy. Count on paying a couple of hundred rupees. If you order a hotel vehichle to pick you up, it will easily come to 500 rupees, just to compare...

Getting around Nepalganj during daylight hours is very easy by rickshaws. Cheap also, but negotiating the fare is sometimes tedious. As daylight comes to an end, rickshaw drivers want to head home, and it becomes difficult to agree on routes out of town. The language can also be an issue, so be certain you know where you are going. It's a good idea to take a Nepalganj sightseeing by rickshaw, but like in any city beware of snatch thieves if you are taking photos and otherwise don't keep your hands on your bag(s).
The airport can also be reached by rickshaw, and if you have time taking a rickshaw from the airport back into town will be a good way of arrive in town.
You can also get to the Indian border by rickshaw.

Nepalgunj doesn't really have much going for it. Sorry to say. Unless you are an anthropologist, sociologist, political scientist or ditto societal enquirer. Funny kind of place, but not funky......
