The Golden Temple, Patan

A fantastic three storey golden pagoda, built in the 12th Century, and possibly the most beautiful temple in Patan.

There is a wealth of amazing carvings on its walls and paintings deepicting the complete life history of Buddha.

Our group was lucky enough to see a 1000 year old prayer book, and have a long conversation with a trainee monk.

Fetching Water

In the small alleyways, everyday in the late afternoon, women and girls appear with a copper jar under the arms supported by a hip. It's time for them to go to the wells and get water for preparing dinner.

I liked the view very much, one girl appears here, another disappears there...

We had no idea what it was for. It was just like everyone was made up and wearing traditional costume. They were very happy. In the two sedans sat a very old man and a very old woman.

The whole team just walked around in the Durbar Square.
