If you are sailing or boating in Fewa Lake and had started early then you can have a pitstop here. And if you are tired of Lakeside's busy streets and crowds and want a change in the environment for a while then they got rooms too.

Favorite Dish: Local food wins all!

    Boomerang: Relaxing Place

by Ramonq Updated Jul 9, 2012

What is it about the Aussies? They seem to have pubs and restaurants all over the world. Here's one overlooking the lovely Pokhara Lake with lots of trees and manicured garden. It's a good place to sit back and relax and just enjoy the meal and the views. It's been in existence since 1991, so they must be doing something right. They do serve steaks (beef), which is an oddity in a Hindu country.

Favorite Dish: No favourite. The pasta dishes are pretty average.

A restaurant with a dreamy Lake view. I enjoy eating in this great restaurant. The food was delicious, the staff very kind and friendly and the view was just marvelous. This place is great and I wouldn't hesitate to come back next time when I come to Nepal. Price is way cheaper than all other so called good restaurant. Oh, Very Clean restroom too.

Favorite Dish: the owner recommend me the Grilled fish. It was very good. Desserts are good too.

    Mike's Restaurant: Quiet nice place

by narkaji Updated Jul 18, 2011

I always passed by this when I went for a walk. I decided to give it a try and I was not disappointed. Away from the road and right next to the lake, you can't beat the location. The staff are friendly and the food is also pretty good. A good place if you just want to chill or read a book.

Favorite Dish: Since I was very hungry I ordered a burrito and it really filled me up. A bit on the greasy side but very tasty.

Perky Beans: Good place for coffee

by narkaji Written Jul 18, 2011

This was one of the first place I found in Pokhara which served real coffee. The sitting area is small but the coffee is really good. The breakfast is also not bad.

Favorite Dish: I had a egg chapati roll which was very filling... an excellent way to start the day.

Moondance Restaurant & Bar: Great place to hang out

by narkaji Written Jul 18, 2011

Moondance is probably the most popular restaurant in Lake Side. Whenever my friends come to visit I take them to this place for a meal. The ambience is friendly and the food is good. Once you enter the restaurant you feel at ease and the staff are waiters are casual yet professional. The menu is simple and offer a range of continental dishes. There is a pool table upstairs which is nice.

Favorite Dish: I like the chocolate brownies with ice cream which is the best I have tried in Nepal.

  • Moondance Restaurant & Bar: The In place in Pokhara

by abuy Updated Jul 7, 2011

This is probably the most popular restaurant in Lake Side. The owner had done an awesome job in creating a wonder ambience. The food is also not too bad. The menu is a mixed fare nothing outstanding except the dessert. It's good place to go to if you go out with your friends where the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming.

Favorite Dish: Machhaphuchhre kiss is a unique desert... I don't know how to describe it... I guess you just have to try it!

This is a nice little cafe where you can just sit sip on a drink and watch the world go by. They serve good coffee, choice between Italian and local. The food is also not too bad. I tried their penne pasta and I really liked it. The chocolate brownie are to die for. The waiters are also friendly and they also have free Wifi.

Favorite Dish: Definitely the chocolate brownie!

  • Banjyan Restaurant: Great decor but lacks bite

by jran Written Jul 5, 2011

I took my family out to dinner to this newly opened place. They have done a really good job on the decor especially the outdoor area where they have a fishpond which looks really beautifully when illuminated in the evening. However, the menu was a disappointment. Since it has the name "Byanjan" which in Nepali means "feast" or "banquet" I was thinking they would have something really authentic however their menu is the usual fare which you find in most restaurants here in Pokhara only the names are slightly changed. We ordered shrimp cocktail for appetizers and all it was some a few shrimps drowned in pinkish colored mayonnaise. The tom yum soup was quite good but a little over spiced. My Bengali curry was OK a bit too much oil though and the Jeera rice which ordered to go with it was more like fried rice. We passed on the dessert.

Favorite Dish: If you like spicy tom yum soup then I guess you could get it here.

  • Mekh's Espresso Cafe: Great place for coffee

by tamuyubaraj Updated Jul 3, 2011

Searching for good coffee and I found this place. The coffee is freshly ground beans grown locally. They have a machine so you can get real espresso coffee here. They also have a selection of pastries, cakes and light meals. The apple crumble goes really well with a cup freshly brewed coffee. The seating is outdoor and it really is lovely. They also have Wifi and it is free!

Favorite Dish: The cafe latte is was really good. The baristas are real artists as they made a lovely flower pattern on the milk foam on the top.

  • Gurkha's Restaurant & Bar: Nice place to eat

by abuy Updated Jul 3, 2011

When we entered Gurkha's we were greeted by friendly waiters in smart uniforms. The menus were also nice in rugged leather folders unlike the many grubby tattered ones you find in most restaurants here. The ambience of the restaurant was OK but I think it could do with a makeover. We ordered some Indian food because we were told that they did pretty good curries and tandoories. We were not disappointed. The tandoori chicken was excellent accompanied with tangy salad and freshly baked garlic naan. The mutton biryani and cucumber raita was also delicious. Try also the lassi's here which are really good.

Favorite Dish: The mutton biryani most definitely. Not too spicy but prepared with spice and dried fruit topped it goes excellently with the cucumber raita.

  • Mekh's Espresso Cafe: The best coffee in town!

by jran Updated Jun 30, 2011

If you are dying for real coffee this is the place to go. The coffee is locally grown and organic. The beans are freshly ground and made in imported Italian espresso machine. Plus, the location is excellent and the outdoor seating is beautiful.

Favorite Dish: A cup of Americano is just amazing!

  • Gurkha's Restaurant & Bar: Great but could do with some improvement

by pungi Updated Jun 30, 2011
    Outdoor seating

Gurkha's Restaurant has been around for a while and is a favorite place for many travelers. The plus point is its location in the heart of Lake Side where everything is happening. The service is also excellent the waiters always polite and available. The food is also very good and they have a lot of variety... maybe too much! The menu is far too extensive ranging from local, Continental, Chinese, Indian and Italian... looks like the owner has tried to cover everything! This makes it very difficult to make a choice. Also the interior could do with an improvement as it looks a bit drab when you walk in. However, they have an excellent outdoor seating.

Favorite Dish: Since I have eaten here several times I have found the food to be a high standard plus when inspecting the kitchen it is very hygienic compared many of those you find in Lake Side. My all time favorite dish is the butter chicken tikka masala with freshly baked nan. They have their own tandoor clay oven so the tandoori items are top class.

Chhetri Sisters Guest House & Restaurant: Breakfast with the girls

by Saagar Updated Apr 4, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Not only is this a delightful guest house, but a good place to eat as well.
Ignore the electric pylons and you will enjoy the morning view of Phewa Lake during your terrace breakfast.
Nothing is haphazard about this place, run by the "3 Sisters", Lucky, Nicky and Dicky.

Favorite Dish: Mixed vegetable omelet for breakfast. Good bread, toast, not the paperwhite thing.
Good breakfast drinks; teas, coffee, juice.
A simple breakfast for three came to NRS 490,-
