by into-thin-air

If like myself you are a bit overwhelmed when trying to shop for a Pashmina then a good place to purchase a Quality Pashminas in Pokhara is The Love Love Pashmina Store.Mrs Singh, the Proprietor will take time to explain all the different qualities of Pashminas, and believe me there are Lots of different qualities and therefore different prices. From 100% Pashminas. To Water Pashminas, From Cotton Pashmina mixes to Silk Pashmina mixes, Single sided and double sided, Different Quality Pashmina depending on whereabouts exactly the wool comes from, Different weights and qualities, It All totally overwhelmed me but Mrs Singh managed to put things in perspective and gave me a better idea on what Pashmina buying is all about :-)Her store is located in lakeside, Pokhara, Heading away from the centre in the direction of Damside before you get to the Royal Palace. Her prices are fair, You might...

Throughout Nepal: Shopping

by into-thin-air

Whatever your clothes tastes you will find them in Kathmandu, If you like Colour then this is Definitely the place for you, Trekking Gear can be bought at a fraction of the price that it costs in Europe – OK, We All know that it isn’t really Genuine North Face Gear but at less than 25% of the cost of the Genuine Article it still represents Excellent Value.Down Jackets, Down Sleeping Bags – They all come in at very good prices. You can also rent trekking gear – But at the price it costs to buy then Is it worth renting ??

coming soon to a street vendor near you: North Fakes and other great deals

by MrBill

If you're a serious gear head like I am and only your budget gets in your way from purchasing yet more cool stuff then Nepal is the place for you. All sorts of name brand goods make their way from China via Tibet and over the Nathu-La Pass (5700 meters) and into the market places of Namche Bazar and Lukla on the adrenaline trail to Mt. Everest Base Camp. Some are the real McCoy, but many are North Fakes. It is really up to you, but if you can live with the guilt then you can pick-up some great buys on outdoor clothing at a fraction of the cost of Mountain Equipment Coop or your local REI. A good gortex jacket with an inner fleece might set you back $20-30 for example. The selection is incredible. You will be spoiled for choice and at such flea market prices you would be a fool not to buy any items you MIGHT need in the next ten years. Buy two. And an extra 40-liter knapsack for another...
