  • In visiting Hong Kong, we have always found that if we forgot something, we can easily get it anywhere... We always seem to forget something and have never failed to be able to get it in HK.

    Best advice--pack light!!!

It really depends on what time of year you go. We've been in either November or May (we prefer November) everytime we've gone... One time we were there in February and even then only needed a light-weight jacket...

These can easily be bought anywhere...

  • To fully enjoy your trip take as little as possible, think that every additional Kilo YOU will have to carry!
In the heat of the tropics or in the steep slopes of high altitude this can proove a too hard burden!
Always take ONLY what is really nesseccary, forget about your loved laptop take if you really need it a much lighter Palm or the like!

In the tropics ultra light cottons will suit you just fine!
Mosquito nets are available in every tourist/ travellers place.
Cotton one have the tendency to be hot and airpassage is restricted-Nylon or Polyacrylic ones are lighter.
Set of Sportshoes and light Sandals or flippers.
Always remember when packing:'Many items are much cheaper in Asia then in Europe, USA or OZ.

    Forget the Malaria Prophylaxis!
Any unspecific fever go immediately to a doctor and have a Malaria check!
Because of many resistant viral malaria strains it is NOT advisable to take just any medication.
A small first Aid Kit shall do, unless you go to remote rural areas there is almost everthing available in Supermarkets or Pharmacies.
In Thailand distribution of Doctors-First Aid Clinics and Hospitals is pretty good.

THis is again entirely up to the traveller his intentions and will to carry a large VDO or Reflex Camera with him.
Usually a ordinary camera wil just do.
If you did forget to bring one there are 'disposable' ones available in many places in Thailand-not to forget that these things will add to the worldwide plastic garbage heap!

In Thailand, Malaysia there are Government or Privately run accomodations.
Give preference to the Government supplied Accomodation, privately run places usually encroach and litter the precious environment.

Avoid to travell alone unless you are a 'loner type', its more fun when you can share and discuss new impressions right away with somebody.
Solving problems, guarding luggage, four eyes see more then two-having at least one companion gives you a sense of security.
Make sure before you start your vacation that you get us much information about the country, the people and the places you want to visit.
    Avoid trouble at all cost!
It is not worthwile to get in trouble in ANY of Asian countries there is a certain Law-vacuum-locals will be 'preferred' in legal quarrels.
    Jails are very inhospitable places!
Fines may ruin your vacation plans.

try to get the most out of your adventure!

  • The less the better. I took over 2 tops 1 pr of shorts and bathers and brought everything else. Its too cheap not too. If I ran out of clothes, Id buy them. Bargains galore!

Bring a good pair of sandles that are sturdy and this can last you the whole trip. I lived in mine for 3 weeks with out any troble.

Chemists are everywhere in Thailand. You can buy all your needs quite cheaply. Dont even worry about taking mozzie repelent, buy it there.

Buying film and having your photos developed are really cheap over there too. They even put your photos in nice little albums!

    Bring your sleeping bag.
    Bring your bathers.
Take some sunblock and wear safe shoes.

A tent. In case you cant find any where to stay. Some owners of little places along the beach will let you stay on there premises, just be nice about it!

  • The best are to bring a big bag, a backpacker are not a bad choise, and maybe a extra bag if you have one.

Be sure of having space for all that nice things you are going to by. A lot things are sheaper there than it is at other places.

Don't put a lot dress in your bag. You are able to by dress sheap there. It's still a good idéa to bring this:

A warm pullover, if you stay in the vinter.
    Some good shoes
    1-3 t-shirts
    1-3 pair of shorts
    One pair long trousers

Remeber to bring dress for the travel home, if you are living where it's not so hot as in Thailand, and remeber to put that dress in your cabine bag ;o)

It's sheapest to by the things at the North, ex. Chiand Mai, than in Bankok and in the Sud, ex. Koh Tao or Koh Samui

It is possible to by batteries for camara sheaper in Thailand than at home, if you compare the prices with DK.

Remeber to by batteries and films, before you go to the islands at Sud. The price there are more high.

Remeber to by a converter, if you are using a re-charger for your batteries. It is possible to by them down there.

It is possible to get print from your digital camara. The prices are ok, if you compare with my country. Are you making prints from films, then the price are the same.

    Shed Some Light
I always take a small flashlight and extra batteries when travelling. It has saved me during a stay in an apartment when the fuse blew and I had to go down four flights in the dark to reset it. It also comes in handy when visiting museums and other dark places (caves etc.) when you can shine a little light on things. And, a flashlight is particularly good when your travelmate wants to sleep and you want to stay up and read about the sights you're going to seethe next day.

    Emails
I learned about a wonderfully simple e-mail service for travellers and used it on my last trip to Hong Kong. It worked perfectly! Mailstart.com allows you to retrieve all of your e-mail messages directly from your own internet provider at home. Just set up your account and password with Mailstart prior to leaving (it’s free), receive your instructions and you’re ready to go. Do yourself a favour and check it out at http://www.mailstart.com I loved it!

Nearly everything you could possible want you can purchase in Tahiland. I regret spending so much before I came away, specialey on clothing, you can get it all next to nothing when you arive.

If you are going to hire a bike, take burn cream with you, those burns can be pretty bad. They are called the ko Phan tatoo, because so many people have them. Other than that, a good cream to stop the itching when you get biten and Tee Tree oil.

Good things to purchase as soon as you get there is some small speakers to plug into your CD, all huts have a power supply, and some snorkelling gear to see those under sea wonders.
