Regular luggage seems normal to me, although make sure the weight of your belongings is light. It's no fun trying to tote around 50kgs. For India, women should keep their bodies covered. It is not uncommon for tourist women to wear salwar kameez (Indian pant suit) or even a saree. Men should avoid wearing shorts, wearing slacks instead. Most important, pack a strong mosquito repellent with you, particularly if travelling in South India. Malaria is no joke there, and you should be prepared. Mosquito repellent, first and foremost. It is also important to keep a medical kit with you for travel in India. Make sure to obtain proper shots before leaving. If you have a weak stomach, make sure you carry an anti diaheretic, as well as anti indegestion pieces.

Pack light, you will most probably have to carry your luggage up stairs, over uneven pavement etc bring sturdy shoes for walking. Liquid panadol is not available in China for children. Gastrolyte is essential for tummy bugs. The lighting in China is hazy often from smog so bring the right film for poor lighting. We found that we could burn cds in some Kodak camera shops from our digital camera. Sunscreen is essential - Chinese brands often have skin bleaching agents in them. We allowed our children to bring their backpacks with a small amount of toys. This allowed them to settle in quickly into new surroundings and kept them amused on the long journeys.

Keep it to a minimum as you will have to carry it yourself, service is not common in China. I think backpacks are safer. Family Travel Pack some wet towels (the type that you use on babies) because the washing facilities are not always good where ever you go and the toilets can be scary. I prefer digital photography as processing is not very good where we live. instant cup of noodle soups are great for train travelling as there is plenty of hot water.

You should care as little as it's possible, especially when travelling to the south of India, because it's very hot there, and you can buy everything you need, very cheap clothes and other stuff. Nothing special, simple and casual, tennis shoes, sandals... toilet paper, bandages, cotton, scissors

In vietnam take as little as possible, everything is very affordable, but remember they are very small people so undies, premade clothes are too small for westerners but clothes are made cheaply. Wine compared to other alcohol is dear and not very good australia has some work to do in that area! When I went it was warm so light clothing.Remember if out and about those awful squat toilets are still in vogue. I think drainage in Vietnam is quita an issue. Expect diarrhoea.Toilet paper or baby wipes come in handy.

In visiting Hong Kong, we have always found that if we forgot something, we can easily get it anywhere... We always seem to forget something and have never failed to be able to get it in HK.Best advice--pack light!!! It really depends on what time of year you go. We've been in either November or May (we prefer November) everytime we've gone... One time we were there in February and even then only needed a light-weight jacket... These can easily be bought anywhere...

ok - ready to go... departing pic. Packing light turned out to be a failure. I finally manage to contact a trekking guide, with a very promising name: Pirate - I know i'm going to have a blast with him. On the downside I had to give up on the idea of a little carry-on luggage: hiking boots weight half a ton (and take up quite some room), sleeping bag is high-tech and all but still takes up room too (well, less than hiking boots)... then hiking trousers, hiking top, water filter, water bottle, mosquito net, small backpack for the hike - and a big backpack became necessary - if i wanted to add in some normal clothes, a swimsuit and a pair of shoes. And to top if all dear Utttz gave me the sad news: if you don't bring a 8 metres long rope, you'll find that hanging a mosquito net will be impossible. Bummer - no rope so to speak in the house - but not a long time ago an angel forgot a...

The best are to bring a big bag, a backpacker are not a bad choise, and maybe a extra bag if you have one. Be sure of having space for all that nice things you are going to by. A lot things are sheaper there than it is at other places. Don't put a lot dress in your bag. You are able to by dress sheap there. It's still a good idéa to bring this:A warm pullover, if you stay in the vinter. Some good shoes1-3 t-shirts1-3 pair of shortsOne pair long trousersRemeber to bring dress for the travel home, if you are living where it's not so hot as in Thailand, and remeber to put that dress in your cabine bag ;o)It's sheapest to by the things at the North, ex. Chiand Mai, than in Bankok and in the Sud, ex. Koh Tao or Koh Samui It is possible to by batteries for camara sheaper in Thailand than at home, if you compare the prices with DK. Remeber to by batteries and films, before you go to the...

To fully enjoy your trip take as little as possible, think that every additional Kilo YOU will have to carry! In the heat of the tropics or in the steep slopes of high altitude this can proove a too hard burden!Always take ONLY what is really nesseccary, forget about your loved laptop take if you really need it a much lighter Palm or the like! In the tropics ultra light cottons will suit you just fine!Mosquito nets are available in every tourist/ travellers place.Cotton one have the tendency to be hot and airpassage is restricted-Nylon or Polyacrylic ones are lighter.Set of Sportshoes and light Sandals or flippers.Always remember when packing:'Many items are much cheaper in Asia then in Europe, USA or OZ. Forget the Malaria Prophylaxis!Any unspecific fever go immediately to a doctor and have a Malaria check!Because of many resistant viral malaria strains it is NOT advisable to take just...
