When I was there, I asked a shop owner regarding the charges of internet surfing, he said something like 600R an hour in daytime 150R night. I take a peep at the internet room has two sets of PCs but nobody. I guess internet is still very expensive in Hunza. Most of them are using the satelite dish, saw so many on the roof.

A checkpoint in Kohistan

The area of Kohistan through which the Karakoram passes through just after the lush green Hazara plains is famous for its inhospitability among all the other friendly Northernors. There are several police checkpoints on the way to find out between which 2 checkpoints you disappeared (thats a relief), whether victims of the Kohistanis or the road. But don't worry the situation has improved dramatically. Foreigner's cycling the Highway have reported of no problems and for the past ten years such incidents have been reduced to a minimum. Still however, for your own safety, never trust strangers in this province and do not have too many photo stops (there wont be many in this dry desert) except for in the cities like Chilas, Raikot, Dassu and so on. This area was once known as Yaghistan "Land of the UnGoverned" however, the situation has improved a lot now. The British has to face a lot of skirmishes here with the locals who kept interfering with their supply lines. But always remember!! The Kohistani bandits are not above the law.. and they will be punished if they do something wrong. And always keep on the highway as it is the safest place to be.

I stopped in the Hunza valley for 2 nights before crossing to China via the Karakoram Highway. This is definitely a place that gets a lot of travelers, and also a very beautiful place to visit
