You can see from the photo what a fantastic situation this restaurant has, with panoramic views over Islamabad. It's basically open air, with a small roofed in area where they cook the chicken on a long pit.
The drive up is pretty, although can get a bit tense as the tight curves combine with the local driving style. One time we hiked up from the city, which was a bit much in the heat, but the walk was pleasant enough and the paths good.
This is the second restaurant on the Margalla Hills road. The first one is OK, but this one is the prize. If someone can remind me of its real name, I'll be grateful.
Favorite Dish: Has to be the chicken tikka, which comes in 3 levels of spiciness. The hottest one was a bit much for me, and normally I eat very spicy foods without a problem. Actually, I'm not sure if they serve anything else.
The bread is great too.
This is the latest restaurant to hit town, serving a variety of high quality international dishes. Islamabad isn't really known for its restaurants (unlike Karachi) but I have to say, it's easy to believe one is sitting in the trendiest restaurant in Manhattan! and the good thing is that you get a good mix of foreigners and Pakistanis eating there...definitely not to be missed...
Favorite Dish: Beef carpaccio and ceasar salad...just yummy and delicious. Period.
This is a fairly useless tip I realise, but we ate in a restaurant in the Blue Area with our trekking host on our first day in Islamabad. The restaurant had big windows at the front and was on the second floor looking down on the street. The food was great with a menu encompassing the Pakistani/Indian favourites as well as some more unusual or uniquely Pakistani Dishes.
Great food but unfortunately for me it was rather oily and played havoc with my unsettled stomach - I tried to only eat naan bread and rice but the meals looked so wonderful.
My friend Ray had no trouble with the food - the restaurant looked clean and very popular so that was always a good sign.
As for price - again I am hard-pressed to say since we were treated to lunch and didn't see the bill!
