Rawal Lake

Rawal Lake is a very beautiful lake located in Islamabad Park Area. A dam was built on this lake accross Korang River in 1962 called Rawal Dam. It has a storage capacity of 47,500 acre feet and covers 3.5 square miles.

It is an ideal place for picnic, fishing and boating. There is a terraced garden on the lake side. The highest point in the garden offers a great view of the lake, Margalla and Murree hills.

Red Onion & PTDC restaurants give snack bar facility.

Not a good picture..but will do

A large lake/dam made on the Kurang River is the main supply of water for Islamabad resident. It is also home of various varieties of birds and wildlife. You can also hire rowing boats and canoes to enjoy the lake upclose.

Rawal Lake

Rawal lake is another nice picnic spot. It is a large artificial water reservoir and main water sourcefor residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Many people visit Rawal Lake, sit there are relax. Sun set at Rawal lake looks beautiful. The area round the lake has been planted with flowering trees. Many picnic spots have also been designed. There is a restaurant operated by PTDC that offers snacks. The lake covers an area of 8.8 sq.km. Sailing, boating and fishing facilities are available. The highest point in the garden gives lovely view of lake, margalla n murree hills and twin cities.
