    Thieves @ home

by fashionapple Written Mar 18, 2006

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Most of people living in Islamabad actually belong to different parts of the country. They shifted here because of job when city was built in 1964. On special events like Eid or long holidays, residents leave for their native towns thus city gets a deserted look. And you know what, that is a real treat for thieves. It often happens that when residents come back home after holidays, they find their homes empty. My tip is that don't leave your home unattended. Its better to have a security guard at home.

Traffic is a very common is Islamabad! It's very annoying when it starts. It takes the police a it of time to get rid of. I was stuck in traffic once. It was very frustrating. I was also involved in a accident. The car behind us crashed us. Thank God i had my seat belt on. My est advice is that always have a seat belt on and drive at a normal speed, around 40. The police often ask for your passport or national ID card. So make sure you have them!

Snakes are actually quite rare in Islamabad, but if you intend to visit the villages in Pakistan then there's alot to learn. Snakes are very common in the villages. I saw a snake in a village called kallar. I was terrified!!
But it's okay, Snakes harm you if you harm them because they actually get scared!
The next warning is insects. Make sure you buy special cream that can heal those nasty bites that insects make. If an insect bites you then you will get a rash. Loads of insects bit me. BUT DON'T E SCARED TO VISIT ISLAMABAD BECAUSE OF THESE WARNINGS-IT'S GREAT!!!!!!!!!

    Clothes Searching

by aukjejetty Updated Jan 28, 2004

This was an amazing sight, seeing so many clothes spread out along the train tracks. We were in Islamabad and Rawalpindi right after a major flooding of areas of the city. We could see parts of houses washed away, and all these clothes...I wonder if they ever got back to get back to their original owners.

Islamabad was exclusively designed as Pakistan's capital and many government offices were shifted here. So it had no local population. All people living in Islamabad shifted here from other cities because of their jobs and this way this city started its life. What happens is that on long weekends or special events the residents leave for their native towns and cities. This time is real treat for thieves.

So it is recommended that you must have a security guard at home when you are going out of city. It often happens that when residents come back home after holidays, they find their homes empty.
