Live music in Pakistan is explosive

Well, there is no Nightlife spot in Pakistan in terms known as in other parts of the world. There are no bars, pubs, discos openly displayed to general tourists. But they surely are there within the compounds of Hotels.

Pakistanis really love to dine-out and the best nightlife spot for them are restaurants of all shapes, sizes and specialties.

Other than dining out, one should attend a music concert, if on the offer. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Junoon are known throughout the world. Pakistani bands play guitar laden music and are also good in fusion music. Some good players other than Junoon include Hadeeka Kiyani (female), Ali Haider, Noori, Fuzon, Raheem Shah, etc. Fuzon especially have fused rock and classical Asian sub-continental classical music very nicely.

In the pix, my brother-in-law namely Owais, nicknamed 'Ozzy Beardmore' plays riffs and bluesy rock music in Bangkok, Thailand with a local band there whose guitarist was ill, as conveniently as he does in Pakistan and in New York at NYU. At the end, he received standing ovation by the gathering.

Please search for websites on Pakistan music, culture, entertainment industry.

Dress Code: See under culture. Wearing Pakistani style clothes will earn foreign women lot of admiration and respect. Once inside the crowed, you can dance to the tunes as you wish and except for drinking alcohol, do whatever audience would do in the West.

Pakistan has very little in the way of nightlife unless you are visiting a big cit then nightlife is al about eating in restaurnats and booking into 5 star hotels and drinking alcohol that has been sold on by customs officers at the airport and bargaining with the waiters in the hotels about the prices of prostitutes that they can get ...a very iffy night scene really be very wary

Marriot: MarriotUnderground

Nightlife in Islamabad does not kick in until past midnight.
Down at the marriot underground you can enjoy music, dancing and a great crowd. However unlike in other night clubs you can get thrown out of the place for no reason at all. I get this Paki block that walks to me on the dance floor and says "I can get you trown out of this place" and the next thing that comes out of my mouth is "Oh yeah! why dont you try it". All of a sudden there are two bouncers grabbing me by my arm and pulling me towards the door. Once outside I ask the doorman "what is going on?" and he goes "I dont know, why dont you just go home".
And thats the climax of the evening.

No night life ?: What to do ?

There is no night life in the most part of Pakistan, except Islamabad. And even there, everything is finish around 22hrs !
If you are a single man, you can't share spaces with families. If you are a single woman, it's difficult to find public places at night. If you are a family, you can enjoy some time, for example in the Park of Peshawar. But all the meetings, official or not, finish at the same time. Difficult to create a social life with locals when you live there for a long time.

Hustle and bustle in Peshawar

Salut Mes Amis,

At night better to come out in Peshawar and enjoy the night in saddar bazar which is open till late and see the culture and people, doing shopping and busy in their things and you can drink and eat as well at the restaurants.
Or you can wonder in the old city which is also awake till late night.

I welcome you to Pakistan

,

Dress Code: Better to wear local dress (Shalwar Kamees and shawl for women travellers).

There is no such nightlife as that of western standard. But the view of mountains at night is remarkable...... and in mountains you don't need any other activity in night except watching the mysterious glory of mountains and enjoying the quietness of mysterious nature.

Dress Code: Depends on weather.............

Eating Out: Lahore never sleeps

The big cities (Lahore, Karachi) never sleeps in night especially during summer. There are lots of spot in Lahore where you can go any time during night. The famous Food Street, the Lakshmi Chowk, Anarkali, Ichhra, Bhaati and Lohari gate are all open for almost whole night and offer delicious food of every kind.
Every kind of transport (van, rikshaw) is also available till late night.
You can also try theaters of Lahore (Alhamra, Tamaseel, Open air, and many more) or cinema as well.
Lahore has a red light area known as 'shahi mohallah' (behnd the Lahore Fort, inside the walled city). But if you are stranger never go there alone rather go with some local person.

Cafe Zhouk: The rich and the beautiful

Yes, Pakistan does have some kind of nightlife. This cafe is the meeting point for rich and beautiful young Lahoris and you will even see girls in tight dresses smoking cigarettes. Just like at home, except for one thing : even here they don't sell alcohol.
The music mix here is fun : Beatles, J.Lo and even the Gipsy Kings!

Dress Code: If you're a westerner it doesn't matter what you're wearing. But it would be respectful to dress up a bit, unless you want to be a misfit.

Lol - not many really...but Chitral can prove to be a laugh. Ask for the 'dancing dolls' and see what happens.

When in Lahore go the Old City and you have a choice of two areas, which are not really tourist friendly. You've got the Harree Mandi with the 'dancing girls' and is the famous so-called red light district, if you're into that sort of thing. Or Gul Mandi which has little rooms stacked with hash and opium and I'm sure you can add the rest. A bit tricky for the females these two areas, personally.
Another world.

Dress Code: After 3 years here I think it really doesn't matter what you wear, you'll still be stared at.
