  • This beautiful lake/dam is 48 km from Islamabad on Taxila-Haripur Road. It is an ideal place for day trip/picnic, boating, angling and watching migratory birds during winter. There is also a TDPC motel nearby. Rock-climbing opportunites exist for beginners and there are some interesting caves nearby.

This historical mosque is the largest in Abbottabad and is built on a mountain spring considered sacred by some people. There is a pond in front of the mosque where boat riding is possible though its said that there are crocodiles in the pond! Its also called Piffer Masjid.

  • The Haro River Valley
    Abbottabad (NWFP) Pakistan

    Haro River Valley (Abbottabad Pakistan)
This valley is located at the back of Islamabad, in the feet of Muree Hills on Abbottabad-Lora-Ghoragalli Road. Some Mountains of the valley are nearly of the same height as the Muree hills. For example: Siribang, Dubran, Danna Nooral, and Langrial. It has beautiful pine, scrub and shrub forests, Streams, Water Falls, Peaks and Gorges to watch. The forests of the valley are full of wildlife including Leopards, Monkeys and pheasants etc. The Barking Deer and Goral Sheep are occasionally seen. All the wild animals seen in Margalla and Ayubia basically belong to this valley. The valley is netted with jeep roads. There are three main roads connecting the valley with Islamabad, Muree, Abbottabad, Haripur and Khanpur. The Khanpur dam is also a part of this valley. The weather of the valley remains pleasant.
This is the vast area administrated by three police stations (Nara, Lora & New Khanpur). The Valley area starts from New Khanpur and ends at Ayubia in West to East and from Havelian to Margalla Hills from North to South. The eastern half of this area is in district Abbottabad the other half is in district Haripur.

    Langrial Mountain (Abbottabad Pakistan)
This whole area is administratively divided in to two forest ranges (Stoura & Makhnial). Both ranges are under the administrative control of Haripur Forest Division and Abbottabad Wildlife Division. The five major reserved forests (Sarla Reserved Forest, Margalla Reserved Forest, Kohala Lassan Reserved Forest, Rahi Reserved Forest & Stoura Reserved Forest) along with other small reserves, guzaras and mehdoodas are located in this area. The largest reserved forest is Kohala Lassan Forest, which starts from Khanpur Dam and ends at the boundaries of Stoura. The Dubran Forest is the part of this reserve.
The valley is further connected to the forests of Kashmir and Mansehra forests through Ayubia and Gallies forests.

    VILLAGE DUBRAN
    (Abbottabad)

Dubran village is situated at N 33” 55’ 05.5” and E 73” 07” 48.3” some 35 Kms in Southeast of Haripur town on the Lora-Ghora Gali road. The elevation of the village is 4215 ft. Dubran village is situated, with Haro River in the South, Neelan nullah in East, Kunhad nullah in the West and Langrial village in the North. There are different wildlife species like common leopard Banking Deer, Grey goral, Fox, wild cat, jackal and birds like black partridges, Chakur, Falcons and cheer pheasants in the area. Mostly a family of common leopard is sighted around the village.
Illegal hunting of wildlife both for subsistence and commercial motives is common in the area and threaten ecologically significant wildlife species. Grey goral, Banking deer, wildcat and common leopard are at the verge of local extinction.
Dubran being corridor between Margallah Hills National Park (MHNP) and Ayubia National Park (ANP) provides a passage to the wildlife (particularly) common leopard) of the two Protected Areas.
The Dubran Mountain is surrounded by Haro River and it’s tributaries. Kaghan,Sarban, Thandiani, Kalabagh Gallyat and Muree hills are visible from here. As a whole it is a beautiful place. This village could be the best place for tourists if developed
