  • St Luke's Church Abbottabad

by Mikali Written Oct 9, 2013

This is a photo of St Luke's Church, Abbottabad, Pakistan, a true historical treasure of the town dating to 1864 when the building was formally consecrated, in British colonial times. It was originally an Anglican church but is now under the Church of Pakistan. The church has many nice historical treasures to see, and the vicar here is also in charge of the Old Christian Cemetery Abbottabad and permission to visit that can also be got from this place. Anyone interested to know more about this fine old church or the attached cemetery may please check these pages: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Luke's_Church,_Abbottabad and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Christian_Cemetery,_Abbottabad

Abbottabad valley was established and developed during British rule in subcontinent. So you would find many beautiful old style buildings and churches in the valley. The main church is located next to Abbottabad Club. It is very well maintained and some times tourists are allowed to take photos from outside.
