Abbottabad maintains high levels of education. Its institutions are renowed throughout Pakistan and its literacy ratio is much higher than the rest of Pakistan. Several engineering trips are taken to this region from areas like Lahore, etc.

In winters mountains of Abbottabad valley get a white cover of snowfall. During the heavy spells snow all fall in town turning every thing into white. This gives a lovely view and you should not miss it. After snowfall the views in evening are usually breathtaking.

You can visit Jalal Baba auditorium in afternoons where many cultural and social activities take place. Kids can also participate in arts related classes held there in evenings.
This auditorium has been named after Mohammed Jalal-ud-din Khan commonly known as Jalal Baba, a very respected leader / minister from Abbottabad at the time of sub-continent's partition.

Pakistan army is considered as one of world's best. In order to maintain the standard of services, all the officers have to go through very tough training for two years at Pakistan Military Acadmey ( P M A) in Kakul, Abbottabad. Many internatinal cadets also get training at P M A.
P M A houses impressive buildings near hills and huge lush green lawns. Often one can see cadets getting ready for games in outdoor lawns near sports complex.

If you come to Abbottabad then you should not miss a trip to beautiful Shimla Hills to get over view of entire valley and nearby hill resorts. You can trekk , walk or hire a local suzuki.
Children can enjoy rides in park while elders can have a cup of tea or coffee along with snacks in open air restaurant.
Shimla Hills in Abbottabad are natural but the ones in Lahore are man-made. Also do not confuse Shimla hills in Abbottabad with Shimla in India.
