Transportation

To Chitral
From Peshawar there are 2 options to get to Chitral .
1: By Plane
2:By Road

1 : There area regular flights to Chitral , 50 US $ each , but they are subject to weather .

2 : There is nightly coach service from Peshawar to Chitral what leaves for Chitral from Qissa Khawani bazar Peshawar 5 US $ each almost 12 hrs drive .
Apart from that there are indirect coach services from General bus stand Haji camp Peshawar wherefrom one can get to Dir 5 hrs then to Chitral through Lowari pass 3200 m to Chitral 5 hrs but better to leave for Chitral from Peshawar as early as possible in the morning .
For Tourists

If one is looking for comfort and luxury then better to hire a Jeep with an experienced driver what costs for Gilgit 150 US $ , a night and 2 days trip across Mastuj , Shandoor pass 3800 m Shandoor lake , Phandar , Khalti lake and Gupis to Gilgit . The road from Gilgit to Phandar is paved and work on the rest of the part is in progress. From Chitral to Hot springs , Kalash valleys , Summer palace normal fare for renting a Jeep on one side from 10 to 15 US $ , a jeep can accommodate 4 to 6 people .

For Travelers and Backpackers

On the other hand the NATCO (Northern Areas Transport Corporation) has started a land cruiser service in August 2003, 600 RS 10 US $ each for Gilgit ,what is being operated from NATCO office in Gilgit and Chinar Inn in Chitral .
Taking a cargo jeep service is much cheaper but not comfortable one can find the jeeps , coaches what leave hourly for Hot springs , Kalash valleys , Ayun , Drosh from Chitral Bus Station .

Bonjour from Peshawar,

Simply, you'd need a 4x4, over Shandoor pass 3800 m and Khunjerab pass 4800 m.

Toyota Land Cruiser is widely used in Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Bon voyage,

Jeep between Chitral and Gilgit

Things have gotten easier if you wish to travel between Chitral and Gilgit.
This jeep runs every couple days and is just 600 rupees per person. The journey takes 13 hours from whatever time the jeep leaves.
Our driver was great. Very careful, and he even took care of both a flat tire and a breakdown (fuel line problem which he solved by sucking the gas line until he got a mouthful!!) These guys are pros!
P.S. The ride is very bumpy and beautiful!
