Bonjour from Islamabad,
Just back from Mazeno la 5400 m, Herlingkoffer base camp, Chitral and Swat valley.
It is absolutely safe to travel to Swat valley, life is normal, security is tight, I was traveling with s German friend.
Kalam, lovely weather, I stayed 1 night at Saidu Sharif and 2nd night at Madyan after Kalam, roads are bad but things are fine.
Favorite thing: in july 2010 i visited kalam a second biggest tourist resort of pakistan and i was detained due to flood in sawat and at last actress anjilina juili visited kalam and i was able to come back to home .kalam is a very beautifull place and here a tourist can enjoy lakes ,fores, water falls and mountaineering in a single tour ,Utrore is the most beautifull village of the kalam area.
Favorite thing: The forests surrounding Saidu Sharif, the twin city of Mingora and the administrative head of the Swat Valley are just wonderful in autumn. The trees around here are not evergreen as they are in the north and their leaves become a brilliant yellow!
The mountains around Kalam and Bahrain are very beautiful, full of green trees and very high.
Fondest memory: In the early morning, looking up from your hotel, you can see clouds gathering at the mountain tops (which are not that high) and the views are wonderful.
Favorite thing: The springs in front of Lake Mahodand are absolutely breathtaking. There are lots of them flowing at a rapid pace through the forests. Absolute stunning!
