To get to Gujranwala from Lahore, take a taxi. It will be under $50 US and will take about 1.5 hours. The train is faster (45 minutes) but has no AC and I hear it's very dusty because there are no closed windows. To get around Gujranwala, the most convenient and economical mode of travel is the auto-rickshaw. It's a motorcycle with a big box in the back. Pakistanis can squeeze six people in there! It is like a really cheap taxi for 100-200 rupees (about a couple of US dollars). Just wave your hand and get going on one and hang on. Be sure to bring your respirator, especially at night when the fumes will choke you. Keep your hands and arms within the vehicle. Other vehicles will come within one inch of yours and may chop your fingers off. Make sure to bring cash. If you have young children, better to take a regular taxi. Rickshaws and the streets are hazardous for children, unless they have been trained to be Pakistani-street-smart.
