Favorite thing: Bonjour mon ami,
Take a Daewoo bus from Kalma chowk to Rawalpindi, 5 hrs, excellent service.
Take a NATCO bus to Gilgit, Pirwadhai terminal Rawalpindi, 20 hrs these days on KKH, but very scenic trip.
For stay in Gilgit
Park Hotel
Hotel Riveria
Take a coach from Jutial bus terminal to Karimabad, nowadays 4,5 hrs due to road maintenance.
In Karimabad
Hotel Hunza Embassy
Old Hunza Inn
I'd go for Passu beyond Atabad lake, you can stay at
Passu Ambassador hotel
Sust
PTDC motel
Hotel Sky Bridge
Keep warm gear with you because mid October is cold in Karimabad, Passu and Sust.
Bon voyage...

Favorite thing: Bonjour from Islamabad,
When there is a will, there is a way..
November, nice time temperatures, sunny and dry weather conditions, you'd enjoy that.
The culture capital of Pakistan, safe and colorful, better to follow the dress code, the attire should not be very revealing or tight.
A long sleeves shirt with a pair of jeans'd be fine.
Lahore is fine these days far from troubles, it seems pretty okay because you're going to meet your better-half.
Bon voyage...

Favorite thing: Bonjour from Chitral,
UK/US passport holders'd need
Letter of invitation/sponsorship (LOI) from a Pakistan based tour outfitter,
A simple itinerary,
A hotel reservation in Pakistan.
These are the conditions nowadays posed by the Pakistan High commissions abroad.
Let me update the travelers here that the Pakistan High commissions at host destinations have stopped grating visas to non-local travelers so the best option is to apply for your Pakistan visa at home country.
Bon voyage,
Imran Schah

Favorite thing: Bonjour from Peshawar,
It'd not be a realistic approach saying everything's fine here in Lahore.
Firstly, you are going there to attend a wedding so staying with a family, the safest & best option.
Dress locally, the best chance to choose some very colorful and embroidered dress (Shalwar, Kamees and duppatta), that is another very good option.
Avoid visiting Sufi shrines these days because they are hot target by the militants, some private Sufi musical party'd be fine.
Please remember, your situation is quite different from a solo female traveler, who is new to city, culture and people, so be confident and you can make it.
A French friend after Karachi is in Lahore now and she is traveling alone, follow the tips by the travelers and you'll be okay.
Adieus,
Imran Schah

Favorite thing: Bonjour from Peshawar,
If the roads to the 3 valleys of paved, in the next 20 years, Kalash'd be only a memory, somewhere in the photos.
The road from Peshawar to Chitral is better these days, I made it last week from Ayun (Chitral)to Peshawar through Lowari tunnel, Dir and Peshawar.
Forgive me if I'm wrong here but the Pakistan visa for European, American and other Asian travelers, a real pain in ass these days.
Much hassles, documentation, and wastage of time, to discourage the tourism to Pakistan.
Adieus,
Imran Schah

Favorite thing: Dear Oliver,
I've responded to your queries on thorntree and there is a response that made the things very clear.
If you have a 6 months Indian visa with multiple entries then the 2 months break is not for you, you could confirm it from any Indian embassy.

Favorite thing: When I browse the VT locations under Lahore, I saw so many tips and pages were built and quite useful helpful too, so I decided not to spend so much time on this page. I have 100+ photos of lahore but don't worry, I won't spam Lahore tips !!
Fondest memory: This is my most memorable moment in Lahore at night eating at the street where Ferozsons Bookshop located in a street full of lights. There I simply choose a spot to sit down which is here in photo and then I just point my fingers at whatever they have on there to eat, it was fried chicken and friend rice, taste well.
