Lahore is very well connected to other cities of Pakistan through efficient bus system. Several buses start their route from the city and even go as far as to the main city Karachi which is 1,300km away towards south. Luxury air conditioned buses run from Lahore to other important cities like Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Multan, Abbottabad….
Lahore’s main bus stands:
“Sherakot” near Lahore Byepass on Multan Road where one can also board luxury buses and vans.
“Badami Bagh” is the oldest bus stand located near Lahore Fort besides ancient walled city of Lahore. Usually non air conditioned buses and vans start journey from here.
Daewoo Bus stand is situated on Ferozepur Road near Kalma Chowk Lahore. This service is the most expensive and luxurious.

Daewoo, New Khan and other transporters are running the buses all over Lahore. Best service is that of Daewoo as their buses are air conditioned. Lahore Railway Station is the main hub. Maximum fare for the longest route does not exceed more than half a dollar.

The M2 motorway is an extremely impressive piece of civil engineering. The motorway connects Islamabad the captial and Lahore through a 333km road, completed (1998) that now replaces the old GT Road (GT Grand Trunk).
The motorway is similar to those found in the US, where the motorway cuts through large mountains, spans across large rivers and snakes across the uneven countryside smoothly.
The journey times from end to end are now cut from 5 hours down to 3 comfortably. Transport Police that manage this motorway are a lot more professional too!
I would recommend this route during the day time as the scenary is breathtaking.

When you are travelling around Lahore you can find lots of coaches, buses, nightcoaches, rikshaws etc. Look for discount on coaches. If you are travelling with faimly then plz pay bit more but always travel on taxi. its more easy & most comfortable or hire a car. Rikshaw can be useful as well but first sort the prize out with rikshaw driver..

In Lahore, and other Pakistani cities, they have these beautifully decorated busses. They are very crowded, and if you are a couple (man & woman) traveling you have to sit seperatly. There is a division, the womens section is in front and the mens always in the back. At first it felt strange, but traveling longer I got more used to it.
In the Northern Territories they do not divide women and men.
