Bonjour from Peshawar,
The travelers to Pakistan should do their homework properly before leaving for Pakistan, as regards accommodation please listen to the advice of genuine travelers/posters and your guide books (lonelyplanet, footprints).
In Lahore stay at
Hotel Mirage
(A mid-range guest house)
Regale Internet Inn
Near Regale Cinema, Lahore.. (Budgeted hotel)
Please beware of newly opened and dodgy guest houses with tourist scams especially Lahore Backpackers' hostel, some travelers were ripped off as well as they lost money and their belongings, so please beware of that.
A Korean traveler registered a Police case against
http://www.lahorebackpackers.com.pk
The staff stolen some 5000 PKrs from her room when she was out, so the Police arrested the manager and he returned the money, for more information please have a look at the link of that scam

Lahore is also dusty like any other big city of South Asia. Noise pollution is at peak on the roads as drivers have the tendency to blow horn any where any time. If you have serious allergy to dust and noise, better arrange for precautionary measures in advance.

Contrary to media propaganda, you will see a number of women in malls and bazaars; shopping is their favorite hobby. Don’t put yourself in a big risk by taking pictures of girls and women. Females are highly regarded and respected; if she will complain to any guy around her, then a lot of other guys will gather to listen to her and she will then be sister of all and you may face dire consequences.

For females – Don’t wear revealing clothes even if it is fashion. While females are highly regarded, but someone in revealing dress is automatically assumed having “loose character” and a license to be “touched” in the vans and buses (though not often). So if you still insist on giving a “free license” on the road, then there is still a remedy. If you feel something annoying, just slap on the face of the guy trying to enjoy a “free ticket”. Instantly a crowd will gather “sister what happened” and the guy may be in the hospital later. Always be in modest dress and you will feel yourself respected any where.
For guys – Flip flops and shorts are considered rude. You will not be allowed entrance to nice restaurants and in the mosques.

Never consider converting your currency into Pakistani Rupee (vice versa) from the smaller forex dealers and agents around Cooper Road Area. There is high probability that you end up having fake currency in your pocket or they may rip you off by giving worst exchange rate and will even try to impose so called “service charge”.
There are few forex dealers located on the Mall Road near “Regal Chowk”. For peace of mind, I always go there.
Located on the ground floor of Sadiq Plaza. Right in front of “Panorama Center” on the other side of Mall Road near Regal Chowk.

As Lahore is the city of over 7 million ppl so there is great number of vhecles in the city which creat huge amount of pollution in the city. specailly central city is very much polluted. its better to use face mask while walking and wandering on the streets of lahore.
second factor is dusty environment of the city. dust can be seen everywhere in the city even on the elite roads of the city. which cause major problem to the sinus here in lahore so using mask is not a bad option.

If you are traveling to Lahore in summer then be prepare for the killing heat of the city. The average temperature here is 40 Centigrade. One need to drink lots of lots leters of water a day otherwise there is a definite chance of dehyderation. due to very scorching sunlight one has to cover his head and neck when walking on the streets otherwise chances of sunstoke are there.
