It's the best thing in Karachi , Go Aish Adventure Park. It's in eastern part of Karachi , completely outdoor activity area. It has surprise surprise, High Rope activities, Wall Climbing, Go Karts, Paint balling etc. It's worth visiting there. But I would say you should have some courage to do these activities. Very reasonable prices.

Well it ain’t the Kentucky Derby, but something similar!

After a long siesta, horse racing in Karachi has again started. Every Sunday around noon there are 6-10 races, between different breeds of horses. The grand finally of the year is the Quaid-e-Azam cup which is held on December 25.

This was our first visit, and we were expecting a mundane atmosphere. Surprisingly this was not the case as there were vibrant crowd cheering there favorite horses. And in between races you can view picture perfect -3 point- landings. Karachi airport is behind the race course.

Before the race starts, the gamblers get to view there perspective winners in a show-parade which shows the true color/merit of the horse.

HINT: Always bet on the most beautiful and strong horse.

Once the show-parade is over, the stand clears, and the horses start there journey to the starting place. This takes about half-hour, and the race lasts about 1.5 minute. If you are still sitting in the stand (?) you will wonder where is everyone?. Well they have all gone downstairs (underneath the stand) to place their bets. People! gambling is prohibited in Pakistan…but you can be a good sport and bet anyway on your favorite horse, no one will bother you with the formalities.

Tickets are Rs. 156/- (USD 2.60) for all MALE members. Free for FEMALE and children. Then during the race we found out that there were only 6 females in the whole stand: my wife, my 2 beautiful daughters, my cousin wife, and his 2 beautiful daughters…hmmmmmm.

To find out when is the next race, pick up Saturday or Sunday DAWN, go to the second last page of the METROPOLITAN page, and find out when the next race is. The newspaper wither publishes this on Saturday or Sunday.

Heard Pir Pagara is the patron promoting and actively involved in this sport.

Enjoying the races

Well if you are not a great gambler, you can always take your family to the horse races, especially if your sibling loves horses. It is clean family fun, watching the horse race, watching the screaming people, scrambling of owners to the stable to give final words of advice to the jockey, and off course picture perfect landings in-between races.

Tickets are Rs. 156/- (USD 2.60) for all MALE members. Free for FEMALE and children. Then during the race we found out that there were only 6 females in the whole stand: my wife, my 2 beautiful daughters, my cousin's wife, and his 2 beautiful daughters.
