The building is old and built well before the independence of 1947. the whol building is made of stones like any other old building of British time in subcontinent. The building is absolutely awful from inside as it has not been maintained at all.

    University of Karachi
The most impressing thing, I found in Karachi was University of Karachi. I am not sure about the education standard and facilities but, place is really good. It is spread on a big place has plenty of buildings of different departments. You need some sort of identity card to get into University; luckily I had my driving licence so not much problem to get in

    PNSC Building

    4 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Pakistan National Shipping Corporation building is one of the most important buildings in Karachi.
It is nothing special but in a city of an underdeveloped country this building seems to have centre of attention. It is located next to sea which makes a beautiful view.

    Post box

by Imbi Written Nov 17, 2003

    4 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

One of the really pleasant surprises in Karachi was that post box. Royal mail style post boxes were outside main post office. I didn’t see those boxes anywhere else in the city. I think that those post boxes must be from British Empire before the independence. The state of those boxes are not great and I wouldn’t have courage to post my important letter in that box.

  • Burns Road

by MIqbal Written Nov 15, 2003

This is one of the oldest parts of Karachi. There are MULTITUDES of law offices here, crammed in places you wouldn't imagine, because the City Court is close by. There are old old buildings, and the original Sabri Nihari. Take an experienced driver with, and just cruise the narrow streets from the comfort of your air conditioned car.

This is the main commercial area of Karachi. Most of the main banks, offices of international companies, travel agents and money exchange office could be found here. Few hotels are also around this area. But trust me this area is full of pollutions.

    Mosque

by Imbi Written Jan 5, 2003

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This is one of the best mosques in the town. It is also situated in the rather posh area of Karachi, which makes it safe to visit. But you can’t just go inside the mosque just like that. You need to take permission if you are not Muslim from the people who are running it. Second you go bear foot inside, you need to take your shoes off. Its not very difficult most of the people of Karachi are not that bad. They could be very helpful.

Generally, just take care of yourself. This city is known to have quite frequent terrorist activities with bombs exploding every few weeks or months. Just be very careful, especially at night.
A sense of danger and adventure??
