If you want to travel from Lahore to Karachi or vice versa by train then Karakoram Express & KARACHI EXPRESS are
relatively fast & comfortable than others. They only stops on 6 stations in between Lahore-Karachi. All rail cars are new, imported from China. Seats are comfortable.
It is recommended to carry Food/Water with you because food at stations is not good.
Train also has a dining car. They offer a dinner tray for Rs. 100/- which is sufficient for a person. It is better than the food stuff purchased from hawkers at station.

Recently I had a trip to Rawalpindi with my family. We travelled by Pakistan Express. I always enjoyed train trip since my childhood. But my this visit was very terrible and quite uncomfortable. No light in whole train except only 4 or 5 lights in 12 or 13 coaches. No water. It is very inconvenient to make the food (milk) for my 1 1/2 year old daughter at night with the help of my mobile light. It was severe cold outside. At last we reached Rawalpindi at 19:30 hrs (4 hours late). The actual time of Pakistan Express is 15:30 hrs. There seems no cause for delay, but deliberately long long stoppage on small stations, it takes around more than half hour stay at Sohawa Railway Station without any reason. On enquiring the driver told that the Station Authorities asked me to stop here without any crossing and any cause.
On way back to Karachi by Tezgam it is also very painful journey. We reached Karachi by 10 hours late in evening.

Karachi Express a non stop fast train for travel from karachi to lahore or lahore to karachi.
Departure time 6pm from karachi and arrival time 10.45 around at lahore.
Nice and fast train along with karakoram express.
Ac lower class is better choice.

There are many trains available for karachi to lahore but the best one is Karakoram Express.
I travel in lower AC. Nice clean and faster train. Only about 4 or 5 stops from lahore to karachi.
Departure time 4 pm form karachi and arrival time at lahore is 7:45 AM. So if u dont want to waste ur day the best choice for train travel.Sleep and awake at lahore early morning and attend your college class or your duty.The fare is little higher than other trains but timing are goods. Fare is about 1800 PKR in lower ac for one person with sleeping nice seat.

Karakoram Express is faster and cleaner compared to Shalimar Express though it is more expensive with regards to train fare.
