Polo is very famous sport in the Northern areas of Pakistan (Gilgit, Chitral, Skardu). This game is beleived to be originated in this part of the world. The greatest tournament takes place in shandur, the highest polo ground in the world, during the summer time. |

There is one thing every Pakistani Love and its the game of Cricket. Though Americans might not have heard this name before but Britishers who are the inventer of this sport, know it very well. Its just because of them we play this game. Not to forget that Pakistan has been a British Colony. If you want to play cricket then you just have to go to any park and ask the boys who would already be playing over there. They would include you in their team and you can have a good time here in Pakistan playing your favourite (?) sports. |

Pakistanis and especially Lahori's try their best to watch a cricket match live in a cricket stadium instead of on their TV sets at home. This is a picture from one of the cricket matched in which me and my family went to support Pakistani Team against New Zealand's Cricket Team and finally we won this thrilling match at the end. The whole stadium was jumping and clapping to celebrate the impossible victory on 29th Nov' 03. |

Although hockey is the national game of the country, but Pakistan is cricket crazy country. In major urban centres like Karachi and Lahore where full-sized cricket fields are a rare luxury, it is not uncommon to see cricket being played in narrow lanes and streets of the city. Pakistan had won world cup of cricket in 1992 and runners up in many occasions. |

Completed in 1926 by Rawalpindi Golf Club, one of the oldest golf clubs of Pakistan, founded on 2nd November 1885. Elegant clubhouse with panoramic views over Faisal Mosque, the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi and the golf course. This course is very famous for the beautiful landscaped fairways and well maintained greens. It is a 18 holes golf course which has the future expansion of another 9 holes. It is known as HOME for the Golfers. The offices of Pakistan Golf Federation are also located in the area. Major national and international tournaments are held annually with record number of golfers participating. Lot of facilities of caddies and coach are available. Golf kits can be hired from the club house. |

It is the oldest golf club in Karachi. The course was turfed, landscaped, and filled with greenery, making it one of the largest green areas in Karachi. The Karachi Golf Club was an affiliate of the Sindh Club in 1888 and registered as an independent club in 1891. The course was relocated to the present site in 1953. In 1991. The 18 holes Green Course was created a year later and in 1993 nine more holes were built. The three courses are now referred as the Blue, Yellow and Red Courses. Very well maintained golf course which is a pride for the karachi. Locals have lot of interest for the game. Golf set and caddies can be provided by the management on hire basis. There are many Cricket Stadiums all over the country. Especially in every major city of Pakistan there are international cricket stadiums such as Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Peshawar, Quetta, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Hyderabad, etc. etc. The Best ones among all of these are the first 3 Lahore, Karachi & Rawalpindi. They have fast and run-scoring cricket pitches where ball also turn and people enjoy the cricket at its best ! |

Four of the world greated mountain ranges... the korakoram, himalaya, hindukush and pamir and almost 37 of the world's 100 highest peaks are located in these mountains. In no other part of the world can be found such a complex of mountain ranges, glaciers, valleys and mountain folks. |

Bhurban is a small village and a hill station in Punjab, Pakistan about 15Km from Murree Hills and about 70 KMs from Islamabad. The course is situated 6000 feet above sea level, adjacent to Pearl Continental Resort Bhurban . It is nine hole beautiful landscaped golf course. While playing at this course you enjoy the surrounding and the beauty of pine trees in the back ground. It is worth visiting by golfer tourists who happen to stay in PC Bhurban hotel. The Hotel has made arrangements with the management to entertain their guests on very nominal charges. Bhurban Golf Course overlooks the Azad Kashmir Valley and snow capped Nanga Parbat Peak (8125 m) in the distance. Some major tournaments of the country are held here. | Pakistan has some great Mountaineering potential! | | |

Well, my trip to Pakistan certainly couldn't be classified as mountaineering, but I trekked through some areas that were the main staging points for Mountaineering Expeditions. The array of 6000, 7000 and even a few 8000 metre peaks is staggering and at the moment, since Pakistan has undergone a lull in tourism I have heard that Royalty Peaks are really cheap (some have had their fees slashed by up to 50%). Of course, the biggest of them is K2, but where this photo is taken (on the Gondogoro La) there are some beautiful 6-7000m peaks in the vicinity. So if there are mountaineers out there who are looking for a peak to get away from the crowds of Nepal...Pakistan may just be the go! There are also an amazing number of unnamed (and I would guess also unclimbed) peaks there too. For trips up to the North-East around the K2 area in Baltistan your main drop-off point would be Skardu, which is where I started my trek and you will find more detailed info in the Skardu Page. Put search terms like K2, Baltoro Glacier, Pakistan, Mountaineering into any good search engine and you can happily trawl through some fantastic pages set up on the mountains of Northern Pakistan - I did the bulk of my trekking company research this way and it worked really well. |
