Deosai Plateau, Pakistan

Deosai Plateau, a treeless wilderness at 13,000 feet. The Deosai Plateau, known as the highest plateau in the world, is located at the boundary of the Karakoram and the western Himalayas. Deosai Plains are a backwoods country at about 30 kilometres from Skardu. It is a beautiful summer pasture with greenery and countless species of Fiona flora. The view of the Karakorum Range from the top of the 4785 meter pass is legendary. Apart from fairies, this plateau is the habitat of the greatly threatened Himalayan Brown Bear and many other wild animals. Although few people will see a bear, quite a few are said to make their homes in the heart of the plateau. At an average elevation of 3500 metres, Deosai officially is a National Park and protected area for wildlife.

Miandum Valley in Swat

The majestic Himalyas, Korakorams and the Hindu-kush mountains in the Northern Areas are must see.......You will definitely fall in love with these areas and unique culture of friendly people living here. There are numerous treks which pass through lush green pastures, sprinkling streams, freezing glaciers etc.

Hunza Valley(Pakistan)

It is one of the magnificent peaks in the world and is situated near Gilgit town. Its height is 7,788m/25,551ft and is climbable from all sides. The peak dominates the horizon and is constantly visible from the Karakoram Highway. It looks so beautiful that the first-ever glance at it inspires charm and lures an onlooker to be in its abode. It is also one of the easily accessible peaks. Dumani /Rakaposhi which is the local name, the shining wall, Rakaposhi lies half way of Nagar from Gilgit town on the right edge of the Karakorum highway at the left bank of Nagar River. Famous glacier valleys, like, Biro, Barpu, Bagrot and Pissan surround the peak, it has 3 faces to climb, from South east face biro glacier Goglot Goh, valley from North West Pissan glacier from west Ghulmet face which is a long route to reach to the main summit.

Naltar Valley..N.W.F.P(Pakistan)
2 more images

The green and forested Naltar Valley receives more rainfall than other areas in the Hunza Valley, and its alpine scenery is a refreshing change in the arid Karakoram. The Naltar Valley runs north-west from Nomal village, on the west bank of the Hunza River 25 km north-east of Gilgit. Naltar was a hill station for the Brifish and has some military facilities, including a Pakistan Air Force winter survival school. The peaks above the upper valley attract climbers each year. Sentinel (5260m) is a moderately difficult alpine climb, while Shani peak (5887m) is a very serious mixed rock and I snow climb. Trekkers enjoy the meadows up valley, and the Pakora Pass trek from Naltar to Pakora has become a popular walk. Shinaspeaking Naltar villagers are both Sunni and Shia Muslims and some tension exists between these communities. Pakora villagers in the Ishkoman Valley are mostly Khowar-speaking Ismaili and Sunni Muslims, and welcome trekkers.
