Baguio Cathedral

Rising above the city skyline are the pinkish hues of the Baguio Cathedral. The cathedral is but one of a number of religious landmarks which dot the city. There is the Bell Temple, north of the city; the Maryhurst Seminary with its brilliant gardens; and Lourdes Grotto with its 252 steps to heaven.

Old Kennon Road

View to Kennon

Always an occasion to drive to Baguio City which is also called the secret summer capital of the Philippines, when relatives came for a visit from Europe. Many Manileños who can afford to have their second house in the mountains are there every week end during the hot season, but also to enjoy the much cooler climate during Christmas time.

To access Baguio most people go via Kennon Road. Kennon Road is one of the three major access roads that lead up to Baguio City from Manila and the provinces in the central and western parts of Luzon.

During the Baguio earthquake in 1990, Kennon Road was severely damaged and is continuously undergoing repairs. It usually takes an experienced driver an average of 45 minutes by car to negotiate the steep and winding climb up to Baguio. Be careful when driving up due to unexpected landslides and slippery roads particularly during rainy weather or quickly incoming fog.

passing through a tunnel

Going to ASIN Hot springs you will pass 2 tunnels and a bridge, This Roadtrip is realy a different experience for a 45 minutes ride. When you ride the public transport or the keep though just stay at the middle coz people usually bring their chickens with them and load them up front or at the back but otherwise. Its really all good.

Bagio City!
Beat the heat and head for the Hills! Bagio city is a place I feel few people make it to. Well I should say most travelers make it to. It has be a retreat to city folks from manilla for a long time. Imagine going from the hot choking smog of the city to clean, cool, and I mean cool air of the pines. From horse back riding to nice strolls threw the park, Bagio is a suprising change to the rest of the country. Modern malls, American food and some of the best fruit and vegetables in the county. The open air market is a much visit, along with the botaniacal gardens. Bring a umbrella, and a warm sweater and jacket. Great place to visit, and if going to the Philippines a must see.

From the Wright Park rotunda, drive a few kilometers along the Pacdal Road towards Ambuklao Dam. It's the Tiptop area, where one views a Baguio without the clusters of tin roofs.
