Favorite thing: I realized that finding a place to stay in Bukidnon, Malaybalay the capital city in particular was rather challenging in this day of internet and information technology. Why? Even the provincial government's website (which i think is mandated) does not exist (!) Well, in fairness, it is "under construction". Even the DOT's website seems to be static it lists only what has been there a decade ago; and mostly from the northern portion of the province. Tsk tsk...government should put its act together in that corner of the world.
Even google search lists only the basics: statistics, list of officials :-( Indopedia has one fragmented paragraph...
Fondest memory: Thanks to mobile phones, help came from my hijado Walter Balane who recommended Pines, Haus Malibu, and First Avenue which were all fully booked on the day after christmas when we were there.
Second options were Plaza View and Villa Alemania. The walls of the building housing Plaza View needed a good scrubbing it must have been host to a lot of street vendors who were also on holiday that day.
Villa Alemania was the best choice for the day. It doesn't have a parking lot; we had to make do with one side of the road (city ordinance allows only one side parking). Be sure you arrange with the guard to reserve space if you need to go out.
Amenities: hot/cold shower, cable tv, AC (even if Malaybalay is coooold their ac seems to be outside!), comfortable beds.
