Fort Magsaysay

This is the home of the Philippine Army in Central Luzon. It was named after former President Ramon Magsaysay, who himself hailed from another Central Luzon province --- Zambales. The camp is located in Palayan City, surrounded by hills with a view of the Sierra Madre mountain range.

The camp was well maintained with new buildings under construction. They have strict rules on speed limit and cleanliness. And we found the military personnel very courteous. In fact, we were surprised when the first military guy we approached gave us a salute considering we were civilians.

I'm not sure if it's open to the public, but we were allowed entry when we informed the sentry that our purpose is to see the starting point of the ultra marathon that will be held the next day.

good local food for 100 pesos a head! cant beat that, enjoy tagalog delicacies such as buro (fermented fish with rice) and steamed veggies, grilled fish and pork.. and an array of dessets ranging from home made ice cream to rice cakes!

The place is called Zircle's bar and resto (funny but no beer nor liquor is served here) along McArthur Hi way before you enter the city. Its a medium size place that seats and serves 100 - 150 persons during lunch and dinner...

The menu changs everyday which makes it a real steal.. I've been eating here twice a day, and never had a bad review on the food they serve. I would recommend you come in early for lunch since it really gets busy around12 to 1230... Dinners are more relaxed... Wish they had some beer here so I can really stay longer...

A: You can take either Baliwag Transit or Genesis, both have bus terminals in Cubao. No idea about the fare, but travel time is 2-2.5 hours.
