    visit Malasag Eco-tourism Village

    by hanspeter_W. Written Apr 10, 2013

Capture the ethnic spirit of Malasag Eco-Tourism Village and Gardens. It is a fascinating living museum that showcase the different houses of the indigenous tribes of Northern Mindanao including some of its colorful flora and fauna. The village and gardens are set in picturesque Malasag Hills where one can walk in its winding paths and admire the breathtaking view of the city's coastline and the Macajalar Bay. Staffed by Lumads dressed in thier weaving, basket making and thier intricate dance steps.

    Spiritual trip

by kalambagohan Written Dec 12, 2007

The Carmelite Monastery in Camaman-an is good place to get away from the urban noise. It is located on top of Seminary Hill where the quarters of various Catholic religious orders are located. The monastery has a big chapel and houses the miraculous image of the Child Jesus (Santo Niño). Silence is required. People go there to give offerings (eggs, biscuits and others) to the monastery and offer personal petitions.

Hiyah!!!... First was to glide between the trees, then to walk between the treetops and then to hang among the trees!!!

Fantastic! Awesome! I rapelled about 100 meters from one of the tallest lauan tree to the ground! Great Experience!

    Rapelling... for special guests only!!!

by Jeannkelly Updated Nov 6, 2004

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

For the ordinary tourists and adventurers, they never allow their guests to go back to the base through a rapel. First because, it's not so easy for the ordinary traveler who is not really a mountain-climbing person. Second because its really a tedious task to do for the guides and its not part of the ordinary package.

But, am just so lucky, for these people I was a friend and an "abnormal" guest, so they say... (sure, coz I got it for free! ;-)

O have to give credit to T-mart for being such a really excellent raper instructor and yep, after the short stint, I wanted some more rapelling! Was thinking of doing it from my 19th floor España Tower unit to the ground floor... Ain't I inspired" ;-)

..and these are the really nice, nice people that I was with during my stay in Cagayan de Oro. From left to right... Xeny, always the rose among the thorns, great lady!; Jerome Garcia, my very good friend, Pres. of the group; T-mart, one great rapelling instructor ;-); and the ever cool Tats...

...I never felt so luckier than before that they treated me so specially a guest...was the first and only one to camp with them in the jump off point.. Ain't it great?? ;-)

    Canopy Waking

by Jeannkelly Updated Nov 6, 2004

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This is probably the only kind available in the country and second in the world... the other one found in Panama (got it from NatGeo)....

This canopy walking is a creation of the De Oro Mountain Explorers (DOME)... engineered with bolts, knots, steel wires, ropes and a lot of ingenuity.... Not a single nail was ever nailed into a tree with this engineering work... Every five years or so, they adjust all the bridges simply by adjusting all the knots and bolts, as the trees are also growing...

    Way up in the trees...

by agido Written Feb 25, 2007

You will definitely miss Cagayan de Oro more if you can visit the city's shopping malls. There is the giant SM Mall, the Gaisano Malls, Lim KetKai Center, Plaza Fair, and the Robinson's.
